3. A, B and C are points on the coordinate plane. The coordinates of B and C


are (8,6) and (6,-1) respectively. Given that the midpoint of AB is (5,1).

Find the length of AC [4]

4. (a) For the domain  3  x  4, draw the graph of y  2 x  1 [4]

(b) The function f : x  3x  a is such that f f (6)  10 . Find the value of a . [4]

5. (a) Find the values of k if the equation x 2  (k  2) x  10  k  0 has


equal roots. [4]

(b) The line y  mx  1 is a tangent to the curve y 2  2 x  3 .


Find the values of m . [5]

6. The function f ( x)  ax 2  bx  c has a minimum value of 5 when x  1 and
