enclosure. Connecting chamber is equipped also with internal and external terminal PE.
Encapsulated fuse (B), acting as additional protection of power unit’s input, is installed in the connecting
chamber, between terminals of non-intrinsically safe circuits (AC IN) and intrinsically safe (DC OUT). Rated
current of fuse’s insert depends on voltage version of the power unit (see chapter 5, Table 2). Power unit’s
equipment with encapsulated fuse is optional and its lack does not influence negatively on operational safety.
The primary protection of circuits is a fuse located in the main chamber, in converter’s block.

7. Principle of operation
Block diagram of this device is presented on fig. 3. After connection of the supply on input “AC IN” (terminals
X1: 5,6 in version DZI-Z or conductors of a cable with fixed connection in version DZI-W) and after feeding a
voltage suitable for a given version of the power unit, the green diode “AC IN” will signal presence of input
voltage, while the blue diodes: “DC OUT1”, “DC OUT2” signal presence of voltages on outputs. Voltage
values and rated current on outputs are proper for version of power unit’s execution Power unit is equipped
with internal fuse on input.
7.1. Version DZI-*/90-230

• Elements protecting against overloading (fuses) and against electromagnetic
disturbances (filters) on supply input (AC IN)
• Two independent circuits with line transformer. Each transformer is equipped with two secondary
windings - primary and auxiliary. Auxiliary winding ensures maintenance of output parameters
(current, voltage at maximum loading) with decreased input voltage
Controller block consists of:
• Comparator comparing voltage on input with the reference voltage, which at decreased voltage on
input will add voltage of auxiliary circuit to the primary circuit’s voltage.
Stabilization block consists of:
• double current and voltage stabilizers acting also as serial current limiter
• double serial protecting sets intended for limitation of voltage on output (DC OUT)

should be checked whether it’s not blown. To perform this user should remove and isolate (e.g. using
electrical tape) fuse (B) conductors and then remove conductor of a cable entry from terminal AC IN
X1:7 and put it into terminal X1:5 (acc. to fig. 5b).
This device can be operated without additional fuse because it has proper primary protection in main
chamber. It should be remembered that in case of activation of primary protections (safety fuse) its
replacement can be carried out only in manufacturer’s service.
After carrying out of the above mentioned operation user should close a cover or assembly plugs
and then feed a supply voltage. If voltage “AC IN” still is not signalled then the power unit should be
sent to repair by the manufacturer’s service.
• If diode “AC IN” signals presence of voltage on input and there is not signalling by “DC OUT...” diodes
- supply source should be disconnected and output circuits should be disconnected. In case of version
DZI-W it is sufficient to remove plugs from sockets, for version DZI-Z (-M, -H) it is necessary to
unscrew cover of connecting chamber and to remove conductors from blue terminals (1-2, 3-4). To
avoid incidental short-circuit of removed conductors with adjacent terminals it is possible to connect
both conductors of the same cable to one terminals e.g. conductors connected into terminals 1-2 can
be connected together to terminal no. 1 or no. 2. Then the cover (only for DZI-Z) should be closed and
feed a supply voltage with disconnected output circuits. If diodes “DC OUT...” are signalling voltage
presence on the outputs it means that, there is a short-circuit in output circuit (in cable or receiver) or
overloading of power unit’s output. Otherwise the power unit is damaged and should be sent to repair.

11. Maintenance instructions

a) Maintenance is based on periodic control of external connections (correct glanding of cables,
protection of plugs in sockets using clamps), technical condition of enclosure, cover fastening
(these elements decides about maintaining of ingress protection and type of explosion proof
enclosure); if the need arise cable glands or screws fastening cover of connecting chamber should
be tighten
b) Any spare parts except additional encapsulated fuse, installed optionally in connecting chamber
(does not apply to version DZI-W), are not predicted for this device.

To replace additional encapsulated fuse user should:

• Switch off device supply;
• Open connecting chamber using Allen wrench;
• Disconnect fuse (B) conductors from terminals X1: 5, 7;
• Remove fuse from busbar DIN35 pulling off a latch, using screwdriver, in grip for installation in the
busbar;
• Install new fuse (of the same type - see chapter 5, Table 2) snapping its grip in busbar and
connect its conductors to proper terminals X1: 5, 7 (acc. to fig. 4);
• Close the enclosure;

c) All repairs of this device should be performed only by manufacturer’s service
