GENERAL REMARKS
1. Nearly all maritime nations publish pilot guides, list of lights, sailing directions,
nautical charts, etc
2. Usually the large maritime nations such as Great Britain, the USA, Russia
and others, publish maritime publications covering the whole world. The
smaller countries only publish maritime publications for their own waters (and
sometimes also for adjacent waters), in their own language and some also in
English.
3. Usually, the government publications are mainly meant for the professional
seamen and the private publications for the yachting.
4. The Admiralty and some private publishers publish their publications in paper
form and/or in digital form. See for instance the following Admiral Digital Pub-
lications:
—Admiralty Raster Chart Service (ARCS Charts)
—Admiralty Total Tide
—Admiralty Digital List of Lights
—Admiralty Electronic Navigational Charts (ENC’s)
—Admiralty ECDIS Service.

Full details on Admiralty Publications can be obtained online at the following ad-
dress: http://www.ukho.gov.uk/
5. Adresses of maritime publishers can be easily found on the web.
6. The list of publications is far from being complete and only serves as a quick
reference. More pilot guides and the like can be found online making use of a
seach engine such as Google, Yahoo and others.
7. More details on the listed publications such as: regions covered, services
offered, prices, etc. can also be found on the web.
