SCS - Service Capability Server: IM-SSF Features

The document discusses the IP Multimedia Service Switching Function (IM-SSF) which provides an interface between IMS and legacy 2G networks, facilitates cross-network access to allow migration to IMS without a full IMS service portfolio, anchors IMS calls in the IMS network, and converts between the IMS protocol ISC and the 2G protocol CAP3. It also mentions the Service Capability Server acts as a gateway between IMS and OSA/Parlay based application servers.

IP Multimedia Service Switching Function (IM-SSF)

IM-SSF features
An IM-SSF:

 provides an interface between the IMS domain and the CAMEL service environment (CSE) used in 2G-mobile

networks

 facilitates cross-network access, which lets operators migrate subscribers to IMS without a full-service portfolio in the

IMS domain

 anchors IMS-originated calls/sessions in the IMS network

 lets IMS subscribers access IN-hosted services

 converts between ISC (the protocol used in the IMS network, between the S-CSCF and a SIP-AS) and CAP3 (the

protocol used in the GSM network, between the MSC and the services layer).

SCS - Service Capability Server

The SCS acts as a gateway between the SIP/Diameter based IMS and OSA
(Open Service Access) based application servers. OSA/Parlay is an open API
(Application Programming Interface) for application access to telecoms network
resources.
