ADVERBS OF MANNER

The verbs of manner tell us HOW something happen. They are usually placed after the main
verb or after the object.
Examples:
 He talked loudly
 Rose walked slowly
 Peter managed it skillfully
 She speaks English well

FORMING ADVERBS OF MANNER


Most adverbs of manner are Example: slow slowly,
Formed by adding “LY” to adjectives Loud loudly
Quick quickly
When an adjective ends with “L”, we add Example: careful carefully
“LY”
Beautiful beautifully
When an adjective ends with “Y”, we Example: happy happily
remove
naught naughtily
“Y” and add “ iLY”
For adjectives ending with “LL” we only Example: full fully
Add “Y”
For adjectives ending “BLE” we change with Example: responsible responsibly
“BLY”
When an adjective ends “IC”, we add Example: specific specifically
“ALLY”
