I. Title of the Project: Project USB (Utilization of ICT to Support Basic Education)
II. Background and Rationale:
Information and Communications technologies (ICT) are becoming crucial tools for teaching
because they improve students’ performance and motivation. For this reason many education
programs start to include them as essential grounding for teachers’ repertory.
ICT (information and communication technology) is used as an umbrella term that includes
any communication device or application, encompassing: radio, television, cellular phones,
computer and network hardware and software, satellite systems, as well as the various services
and applications associated with them, such as videoconferencing and distance learning. We refer
to ICT in the particular context of ICT provision, policy and teacher factors that variously support
teaching, learning and a range of activities in education.
Education has been identified as one of the public sectors most influenced by technological
developments. The utilization of ICT in education is seen to be crucial as ICT plays an important
role in preparing individuals in school for the workplace. ICT, if carefully integrated in education,
has a potential to facilitate the acquisition of relevant life skills that buttress the development
process in the prevailing economic and information order. is the main goal of the project.
Hence, it sets a framework of curriculum and teacher training that will facilitate and guide the
development of ICT with the view to gaining the best advantage to the country as a whole.
Teachers are expected to be the curriculum implementers in the classroom and it is expected that
their sound knowledge on ICT and 16 how to use it in teaching and learning will not only go a
long way in achieving this goal, but also improve the standards of education.
III. Project Objectives:
Expanding and developing the teaching of ICT at all formal levels of education system and
using ICT to improve the quality of education and to provide effective ICT utilization to support
basic education.

IX. Monitoring and Evaluation
The Schools Division Personnel are invited to conduct visitation and evaluate the
proposed project (Project- CLICK) if it is implemented.
X. Expected Output
Development and use of ICT as a pedagogical tool for teaching and learning, and for the
professional development of teachers, administrators and managers.
The teachers develop confidence in using the computer.
Teachers accomplished outputs such as video lessons, powerpoint presentation, big books,
tarpapels, interactive quiz in powerpoint presentation etc.
Use of ICT as a tool for assessment and evaluation of education
Organized provision of ICT training to students, teachers and educational administrators.
Harmonization of activities, approaches and standards in the educational uses of ICT.
