Water is the most important need of all the life on the earth. Every organism in the world needs water.
But water pollution is a problem faced by many countries around the world. Water is the main issue
affecting human lives in many ways. When water bodies are polluted with various pollutants, the water
becomes unhealthy for man, plants and animals. Water pollution causes harm to human beings, animals,
trees and other constituents of the environment.
Water pollution is due mainly to various activities of man. Nowadays water is getting polluted through
many sources such as: oil spills, fertilizers, industrial, agricultural and animal waste. When all sorts of
disposables and garbage are discarded into water bodies, the latter get heavily polluted. Industrial and
domestic garbage are both responsible for polluting water bodies: lakes, rivers, streams, seas and oceans. As
a result of water pollution, aquatic creatures that inhabit the water bodies also face the threat of survival.
The disposal of waste in water bodies exposes us to serious health problems such as cancer, diarrhea and
intoxication.
As water pollution is caused by people’ irresponsible acts, it can be stopped if they become more aware
of the dangers of water pollution and the importance of keeping our water bodies clean and pure.
