School Based Arnis Enhancement Training for
Arnis Athletes Proposal
I. Proposal
To hold a 1-day Arnis Training for students to help them
improve their basic self-defense skills and and to select potential
Arnis Athletes for Division Athletic Meet.
II. Rationale
Arnis is officially recognized by the Department of Education
as a sport. The issued DECS Order No. 58 S. 1990 known as the
guidelines and standards for the college of physical education
included arnis in the course individual/dual sports program of the
service of physical education.
Physical education is a pre-requisite course to a degree
program in the tertiary level. Because of the uniqueness of the
contributions to the total education of the individual, the organized
program of physical education should be conducted to all students
from the time they enter school until they graduate. In an effort to
achieve uniqueness the institution should develop a philosophy and
purpose which is designed to give it a distinctive character that will
distinguish it from other institutions.
III. Objectives
1. To propagate Arnis as a National Sport and Martial Arts by virtue of
Republic Act 9850.
2. To enhance the skills of the students in preparation for the lower
meet such a Division Meet and Regional Meet.
IV. Expected Output
1. The participant will be equipped with basic skills in Arnis and apply
it in school so that they could be a young ambassador to compete in
DepEd sports program from lower to higher meet, local, regional and
even national level
