So class How’s your day? Is it good It is great ma’am!

so far?

That’s good to hear class, so are you “ Yes ma’am”

ready to start our lesson for today?

Okay, Very good class. But before we

go into our lesson for today, let’s first
have an activity.
B. Motivation

Teacher’s Activity Student’s Activity

Okay class, before we go deeper into

our lesson, let’s have first some
activity.
Alright class, I have here some tongue
twister, read after me.
1. Seventy seven Benevolent
Elephants
2. Four fine fresh fish for you
3. Sally Smiled all Saturday and
Sunday “students are actively participation on their

Discussion
Okay class, after our activity. Let’s go
now to our lesson for today. And our
lesson for today is all about
ALLITERATION and ASSONANCE

Are you familiar about Alliteration and (some students answers in chorus)
Assonance class?

So, today class we will be discussed

about Alliteration and Assonance
When we say Alliteration and
Assonance this are poetic devices, we
can used it in writing our poem.

So first, let me defined what is

Alliteration?
Class, when we say Alliteration it is
repetition of consonants sound at the
beginning of the words.

Okay class what is our consonants (some students raised their hands)
sounds?
This are some consonants sounds;
[B], [C], [D], [F],[G], [H], [J], [K],[L] [M],
[N], [P], [Q],[R], [S], [T], [V],[W], [X
]and [Z]

Again class, what is Alliteration? “Ma’am when we say alliteration it is a

repetition of consonants sound at the
beginning of the words
Very Good.
So let’s have some example:
The Sizzling Sunshine
How many muffins must you make?

In first example class, what is the

repeated sound? “s” sound ma’am”

How about in second? “m” sound

They are considered as alliteration

class because they begin with the
same sounds.

And class when you’re reading or

looking for alliteration in a certain
sentence, story or poem always
remember that the sounds is what is
important not the letter.
For example;
Cheerful Celebration
The impossible Island

So class, in cheerful Celebration the

sounds did not match, it is [ts] and [se]
sounds. They begin in the same
consonant letter but they are not
considered as Alliteration because
they did not sound the same.

Did you understand Class? “Yes ma’am”

Any question class about alliteration? “No ma’am”

Did you know class that sometimes

even in our food what we eat they
used alliteration?
Here are some products that we
usually encountered in our daily lives
that used alliteration.
Krispy Kreme
Best Buy
Mickey Mouse
Donald Duck
Sponge Bob Squarepants
Coca- Cola
Dunkin Donuts

Any question about Alliteration class? “No ma’am.

Okay, let’s proceed to Assonance.

When we say Assonance Class it is a
repetition of vowels sounds in a line of
text, words, phrases, or sentences.
For example:
1.The light of the fire is a sight
So class, the repeated sound in text is
long [i] sound, that why it is
considered as assonance because
there is a repetition of vowel sounds.

Here is the another example class:

2. Go slow over the road

“What is the repeated sound class? “long [o] sound”

Very good class. There is a repetition

of long [o] sound.

3. Try as I might, the kite did not fly “it’s long [i] sound ma’am”
“What is the repeated sound class?

Very Good class.

Any question about Assonance class? “ no ma'am”

Analysis
Before we start our lesson a while
ago class, we read some sentences.

Those sentences examples of

alliteration and assonance.

Let’s go back to the first sentence.

First we have;
1. Seventy seven Benevolent
Elephants
In first sentence class, what do you
think it is alliteration or assonance? “it is assonance ma’am”
Yes, very good. It is assonance
because repetition of vowel [e] sounds

Next we have another sentence;

2. Four fine fresh fish for you
In this sentence class? Is it “It is alliteration ma’am”
assonance or alliteration?
Very good class it is alliteration
because of repetition of consonants [f]
sounds.

Any question class? “No ma’am"

Generalization
So class, let us recap what we have
discussed.

“When we say alliteration is all about

repetition of consonants sounds in the
beginning of the words or sentences.
In alliteration class some words/
names may have the same first
consonant; however this does not
automatically make it alliteration.
Alliteration is based on sound not in
letter. While Assonance class is all
about repetition of vowels sounds in a
text or sentences.”

Application

(the teacher write some lines/ phrases

and flash it. The students identify if it
is Alliteration or Assonance.)

Okay class, after of our discussion we

will have a game. I show and read
some lines/phrases one at a time and
then you have your flash card written
alliteration or assonance. So you need
to identify whether alliteration or
assonance then raised your flash card
if which type of literary devices I used.

Any question class before we start? “No ma’am.

Okay let’s start our game.

(teacher shows different line/ phrases

uses alliteration and assonance) (students actively participating in the
activity)
