How to create “Required

Condiments” in Simphony v2.x

Example: Want to have a menu item called “New York Steak” to ask for
one meat temp choice automatically.

Note: Before proceeding to the below steps, be sure you complete a) and b)
a) A menu item called “NY Steak” already existed
b) A List of meat temp choices, such as Medium, Well Done, etc
already existed

1. Under descriptor-Group- Condiment Group Name, find an empty space and


Type, “Meat Temp”. In this example, I put it into record # 1
2. Under Configurator, go into menu item maintenance- Menu Item Classes
3. Hightlight one of the existing classes that is related to the new class you are
adding. In this example, you are creating meat temps for food menu items,
choose the food class.

4. On the “Insert Record” Window,


- Type the name for the new menu item class that will be assigned to the
menu item “Meat Temp”. –
- Select “After currently selected record”. Hit “OK” to save. In this
example, I created a new class called “Fd-Req Temp”.
- Check on the option box “ Use Template”
5. A new menu item class is now created. Double click on the new menu item
class and you will get the following screen.
6. Select the third tab that is labeled, “Condiment Group”. Under Condiment
Group-Required Condiment Groups, check only the “Meat Temp”

7. Now, go back to Menu Item Definition and find the menu item “New York
Steak”. Change the Menu item class of “New York Steak” to the newly
created class above. In my example, it is “Fd-Req Steak”.

8. Go back to the Class tab at the bottom of the screen. This time, highlight one
of the existing menu item classes, that is used for condiments. Press the insert
icon on the top to insert a new record. In this example, I highlighted class
name, “Condiment-More” and pressed “insert”.
9. On the Insert Record,
- Type the name of the new menu class that will be assigned to all the meat
temp choices, which are “Rare, Medium, Well Done”.
- Choose “After currently selected record”. In this example, I created a
new class, called “Meat Temp - Condiment”
- Put a check on option, “Use Template

10. A new menu item class is now created. Double click on the new menu item
class and you will get the following screen.
11. Select the third tab that is labeled, “Condiment Group”. Under Condiment
Group-Member Condiment Groups, check only the “Meat Temp”
12. Now, go back to Menu Item Definition and find the meat temp items
Change the Menu item class of those items to the newly created class above.

13. Save the changes. And it is finished!! Now, at the operations screen, you
should get the desired result you want.
