Objectives: The learner will be able to:
Define Adjective
Determine the functions and uses of adjectives
Competencies:
Identify adjectives in a sentence.
Describe persons, places, things using adjectives.
List down describing words while listening to a story.
Language Standards:
Construct sentences using describing words.
PROCEDURE:
Motivation: The teacher will group the class into three groups. The teacher will give each group
a picture that they will have to discuss among themselves. The teacher will give the groups five minutes
to discuss it among themselves and choose one representative to discuss what they can say about the
picture in front of the class.
The teacher will write on the board all the describing words that were used by each
representative of the group.
Presentation:
After the task given in the motivation, the following questions will be asked by the
teacher.
1. What do you think are the functions of the words you have used to describe the pictures
assigned to you?
2. What part of speech do they belong?
Practice:
Show another set of picture to the students.
1. A picture of a beautiful baby.
2. A picture of hardworking farmer
3. A picture of a delicious chocolate ice cream
Let the students describe the pictures on the board.
Application:
Group Game: Using the letters of the alphabet, they will think of adjectives which can describe
person, place or things. Give each group five minutes to complete the task. The group who can finish the
task within the given period of time wins.
Example: Clean house, happy baby
Evaluation:
The teacher will post on the board the title of the story she will read. And instruct the students
to listen carefully since the teacher will only read the story twice. The students will have to write down
their paper five describing words they have heard from the story read by the teacher.
The story is titled The Quest by Roderick Hunt.
Possible Materials: marker, manila paper, scotch tape, pictures
