Panti Sisters
The film revolves around the colorful life story of the 3 siblings; packed with comedy,
drama, and romance, the film was best fit not only for the millennials but also for the family. The
first part I find interesting is when Gabriel came home dressed in beautiful violet gown. As she
walks around the house, their goes the flashbacks of his painful memories sinking on his head.
For me, it was portrayed at the beginning of the story to the intent purpose of setting the
tone or mood for the viewers. There are a lot of significant experiences he had from the past; that
made who is he now today. What I like about the film is that the main characters narrate as if they
really were talking to you in person; like we were part of the story.
Blinded by money, they were forced to agree to the terms and conditions set by their father
Don Emilio. They tried the best they could to have a baby but all of them failed to do so.
This concept is true to Filipino culture; most Filipinos are easily drawn to money in
exchange for their dignity. It is widely evident and maybe one the reasons why we are far below
from other developing countries. For this part of film, they had to take chances because they are
in constant need of money. It is not practical for Filipinos to deny such big offer and put it aside
easily.
There is worldwide stigma to the homosexuality and it was treated as a kind of disorder.
Moreover, the strong influence of Catholic Church is also a factor why the LGBT community are
still not welcome and accepted completely by the society. Many are still oppressed and rejects
their existence.
In Philippine context, family ties are extremely important to Asian countries such as Filipinos. We
value family more than anything else; In the case of Panti’s, their family was a mess; what can you

only hear is shrill silence all over the house. It was not a typical Filipino family where everyone
involved and engaged having fun with the members of the family. I felt bad for the siblings because
they have a selfish and inconsiderate father. They didn’t experience being together as one like the
normal family would do because of several misunderstandings.
I didn’t expect the end part when Don Emilio admitted his wrong doings and ask for their
forgiveness. It turns out to me that he was concerned all this time about their future. He knew how
cruel society is to the LGBT. Despite of what happened, their love for their father is still there;
with that, I can say that there is unquestionable strong bond between Filipino families that are
incomparable to Others.
Overall, I’m happy that they resolved their conflicts. Gabriel, Daniel and Samuel are now
in good terms before Daniel’s death. The two have moved on and ready to start a new life without
Daniel. After all, they still have valuable person who need their time and love. Together they will
cherish and enjoy precious time with their Papa (Don Emilio).
