Herbal Medicines

Bayabas Tincture (wound wash)


 Ingredients:
◦ Guava leaves
◦ White wine
 Procedure:
◦ Combine 1:1 chopped leaves:gin
◦ Shake
◦ Cover with black cloth or use black electrical tape (herbal med is photosensitive)
◦ Shake everyday for 7 days then may use the solution.

Acapulco Ointment (Antiscabies, Fungal)


 Ingredients:
◦ Asunting leaves
◦ Cooking oil
◦ Candle
 Procedure:
◦ Combine 1:1 asunting leaves:oil (1cup oil with equal part asunting)
◦ Boil for 15 minutes over low medium heat. Don’t cover.
◦ Let cool. Strain. Discard leaves
◦ Boil mix with candles (melt) until mixture is waxy
◦ Transfer to jar or tin container.
 Apply to affected site BID

SLK Cough Syrup


 Sampalok, Luya, Kalamansi
 Ingredients:
◦ Ginger
◦ 3-5 pieces of kalamansi
◦ Brown sugar
◦ Sampalok leaves
 Procedure:
◦ Prepare 3 handfuls of washed tamarind leaves
◦ Add with 1 cup of water
◦ Boil over medium heat. Don’t cover. Wait until mixture reduces to ½.
◦ Strain and discard leaves
◦ Mix ¼ cup brown sugar to the tamarind extract
◦ Boil until syrupy
◦ Add ginger (size of 5 peso coin only)
◦ Add 3-5 pcs of kalamansi. Mix. Transfer to container.
 Adult – 1tbsp TID
 Children – 1/2tsp TID
 Storage:
◦ refrigerator – 5 days
◦ Room Temperature – 2 days
 Give for 3-4 days only

ALS Liniment (for muscle pain, body pain, rheumatism)


 Ahos, Luya, Sili
 Ingredients:
◦ Siling Labuyo
◦ Ginger (1 big piece)
◦ Cooking oil (1/2 kilo)
◦ Garlic
 Procedure:
◦ Peel and cube garlic and ginger. 1:1 combination to 20 sili
◦ Mix 1 glass of oil (150mL)
◦ Boil for 15 minutes over medium heat
◦ Cool. Strain. Transfer to clean bottle.

 Clay pots (palayok) 2 pcs
 Wooden spoons
 Stainless strainers
 Empty jar/containers/film containers
 Charcoal/wood/gas
 Knives @ least 2
 Chopping boards @ least 2
 Measuring cups
 Apron
 Damp cloth/pot holders
 Manila papers
 Soap/sponge
 Fan
 Matches
 Black cloth/electrical tape
 Funnels
 2 mixing bowls (glass)
