IMPOSSIBLE TO POSSIBLE

The rapid spread of chronic diseases and population ageing contribute to the increasing
rates of disabilities. With their condition, PWD’s need greater attention and consideration in terms
of health needs, without discrimination. PWD’s are persons have long-term physical, mental,
intellectual or sensory impairments which in interaction with various barriers may hinder their full
and effective participation in society on an equal basis with others.
Deaf since she was born. Anna’s disability is not a problem from her success and stop her
from unstoppable yearning to learn. She went to Philippine School for the Deaf and awarded as a
class valedictorian. She graduated as Magna Cum Laude in De La Salle – College of Saint Benilde
with a degree in Applied Deaf Studies in 2009. Her focus was on the multimedia arts and she went
on to become a graphic artist at her alma mater. Blazing the trail, she continued on to study abroad
to pursue a Master’s Degree. She is the first Filipino to be sent to Gallaudet University with a
World Deaf Leadership Organization.

Anna gives motivation to me, and to every people who are also like her and other PWD’s.
She never give up even if she has that kind disability. Anna proved that you can be success and
it’s not possible if you really want to do it. She said,“Graduation is not the end. It’s only the
beginning of another journey towards a higher level of learning. Don’t be afraid to dream, for it
can be the first step to achieving our goals. Always remember that with patience and hard work,
success will be within our reach.” As a senior high student, I am very inspired to her story.

Having a disability is not a hindrance to our dreams. If you really believe on yourself you,
you can do it. Maybe it’s not the time, but God has a plan to us. We should be thankful on what
we have because God has a reason why he gives us problems. It can helps us to be a successful
person in the future. Disability is not a problem to success and to stop our yearning to learn.

“We may be Deaf persons but we can also do anything you can do, except hear. Communicating
with our hands should not make a difference. We live in one country, one world.”
