Commitment and Dedication To Studies
Commitment and Dedication To Studies
Studying is such an important part of school, yet it’s often one of the things students
struggle with the most. Everyone of us in here is a student, we strive to learn new things.
We find studying important to our daily lives because it will lead into our own success.
Commitment is a key factor that influences teacher’s work and student performance in
school. Students with high levels of commitment work harder, are emotionally attached
to their schools, and make more effort to carry out the goals of studying. I still
remember my first day of school here in University of Mindanao, to be honest, this
University is my dream school. I remember how excited I was, I woke up very early and
when I was holding my ID I was very happy and excited to wear it, I am screaming my
heart out and saw how my parents smiled unto me. That’s when I came to realize that I
should be committed and be dedicated to my studies because of my parents and for
myself.
But not every student is committed and dedicated in their studies. Here are the reasons
why some students are not committed and dedicated towards their studies.
1. Some students lack commitment to their studies because they just simply lack of
self control. They got attracted to distractions of the things going on in the outside
world.
2. There are many students who do not know what their goal is. They tend to opt
wrong stream related to studies, and meanwhile they loose interest in related subjects
and began fearing studies.
3. There are some students who are highly confused regarding studies. At one time
they want to study more than one topic, so as to cover up quickly. This, afterwards
results in information overload, and it becomes result of headache for the students.
4. Some students after seeing the contrast between what is required in the world and
what we are getting, end up believing that current education system is not worth it.
They always blame the system to discourage their studies.
5. Social media, internet and porn videos are also some of the reasons why students
loose inerest in their studies.
Today’s students has never lived in the world without internet, without cellphones and
without computer on their classroom. Technology has taught how students view
discovering information, is has decreased their patience for answers and their
willingness to delve deeply. They are used to answers being at their fingertip and
grow frustrated and overwhelmed when information is not easily accessible
Achieving even the simplest of goals requires us to learn the meaning of commitment.
Throughout our life, we are reminded of commitment, wether it’s related to personal
or business goals, and we realize that without committing, we can’t achieve anything.
When you think about it, everything you ever achieved sprouted from a commitment
you made. Learning how to commit is not simply about making making commitments,
however, it’s about keeping those commitments in the face of foreseen and
unforeseen hurdles.
