MET 1- Practical

Contact less line tester, Line tester).

hydrometer, topping up, safeties while handling battery and precautions before
entering battery room.

contactor, Electromagnetic Relays, Fuses).

resistance, continuity measurement. Alternate method of checking Insulation if

and importance of semi conducting layer, short notes on sheath (PCP, CSP,
HOFR), armour, cable insulation (butyl rubber, EPR, XLPE, PVC), MIMS
cables, cable gland, cable burning, Temperature classification (Insulation
class), Insulation resistance, Dielectric strength, difference between flame
retardant and fire resistant cable.
Fault calculation:

Different power system faults, symmetrical fault current and fault KVA
calculation using percentage (impedance) reactance and choose the circuit
breaker rating.

 The previous MET (2016 and 2017) syllabi were vast and none of the
chapters were fully covered and there is no practical training. In that
learning process Psychomotor domain is totally absent.

 Therefore all the above changes are highly recommended to have a


complete and effective learning process with all three domains
(Psychomotor, Cognitive and Affective).
