Water Softener

Hard water causes scale buildup and reduces soap effectiveness. Water softeners remove calcium and magnesium ions using ion exchange resin, replacing them with sodium ions. A fully automatic five-cycle softener backwashes, adds brine solution for regeneration, and rinses the resin bed on a set schedule. The required softener size increases with water hardness and household water usage. Iron removal filters may also be needed if iron levels exceed 3 mg/L. A water test is recommended to determine treatment needs before purchasing a softener.

Hardness is primarily caused by the dissolved chemical
