In Brief

Cahya Mata Sarawak Berhad is a leading corporation listed on the Main Market of the Malaysian stock
exchange, Bursa Malaysia, and is a major private-sector player in Sarawak, the largest State in Malaysia.

Cahya Mata Sarawak Berhad has evolved from a single product manufacturer of cement beginning in
1974 to become a corporation focused on its Vision ‘To be the PRIDE of Sarawak & Beyond’.

Today, our portfolio spans over 35 companies involved in cement manufacturing, construction
materials, trading, construction, road maintenance, property development, financial services, smelting,
telco infrastructure, education and other services.

Cahya Mata Sarawak Berhad (CMS) is Sarawak’s leading infrastructure facilitator and a prime mover in
Sarawak’s growth story.

Originally established as a cement manufacturer some 43 years ago, CMS has steadfastly grown from
strength to strength amidst the challenges of the marketplace and successfully diversified into the
manufacturing and trading of Cement and Construction Materials; Construction; Road Maintenance;
Township, Property and Infrastructure Development; Education; and Financial Services. In 2015, CMS
bolstered its role as an infrastructure facilitator by venturing into the telecommunications infrastructure
arena.

CMS’ solid progress over the years is very much a reflection of Sarawak’s own dynamic progress. As the
State moves into a new era of growth with the Sarawak Corridor of Renewable Energy (SCORE), CMS’
expansion path too is moving into a new trajectory to take advantage of the business investment
opportunities in energy-intensive industries and their infrastructure and related needs. Given the vast
business potential within SCORE and throughout the State of Sarawak, CMS continues to leverage on its
healthy balance sheet, local knowledge, an experienced management team, proven strategies and a
synergised portfolio of Sarawak-based businesses, to maximise its participation in the Sarawak growth
story.

Today, CMS is listed on the Main Market of Bursa Malaysia Securities Berhad (Bursa Malaysia), the
Malaysian stock exchange.

Facilitating Sarawak’s Growth

Sarawak is the largest State in Malaysia comprising 124,450km2 representing 38% of Malaysia’s total
land mass. Its long coastline of more than 1,000km is backed up by reserves of oil and gas, and coal, as
well as vast hydro energy potential, over 8.0 million hectares of forests, 1.2 million hectares of palm oil
plantation and almost 5.0 million hectares of arable land and peat land suitable for agriculture.

With Sarawak entering into a new era of growth spearheaded by the Sarawak Corridor of Renewable
Energy (SCORE), CMS will continue to play its role to help Sarawak achieve developed State status by
2030 through its investments and businesses in the energy-intensive industry sector and in the
infrastructure, construction materials and other services required by the State.
CEMENT

Cahya Mata Sarawak Berhad’s (CMS) Cement Division remains one of CMS’ largest revenue drivers since
1978. CMS Cement Sdn Bhd is Sarawak’s sole cement manufacturer, which produces Portland Cement to
cater for Sarawak’s growing market. Today, CMS Cement Sdn Bhd is joined by CMS Cement Industries
Sdn Bhd and CMS Concrete Products Sdn Bhd, providing high quality and steady product supplies for
clinker, ready-mix and pre-cast concrete products.

CMS Cement Sdn Bhd (321916-K)

This company is the sole manufacturer of cement in Sarawak with two grinding plants, one in Kuching
(established in 1974) and one in Bintulu (established in 1998), with a combined rated capacity of 1.6
million MT per year.

It manufactures Portland Cement for the Sarawak and adjoining markets, which it makes available in 50
kg or 1 MT bags, through a network of dealers using both its and third-party land and marine transport,
and in bulk using 20 – 40 MT road tankers or its pneumatic conveying facilities to cement transportation
vessels.

The two cement plants are supported by 6,000 MT marine flat store terminals in Miri and Sibu, each
with pneumatic cement conveying facilities which are in turn serviced by two (soon to be three)
dedicated purpose built 4,000-tonne DWT barges that continuously transport cement from the plants to
the terminals. Each barge is equipped with a fully enclosed dust free pneumatic loading and unloading
system that enables all weather operations.
The Kuching plant which has its own jetty is also equipped to receive inward bulk cement shipments for
when there is a need to import bulk cement. Bintulu plant adjoin Bintulu port where it has priority usage
of a jetty for clinker imports and cement exports with a dedicated hopper and conveyor for the
transportation of clinker from the port to the plant.

To meet the anticipated increase in cement demand, CMS Cement is developing a 1.0 million MT per
annum grinding plant adjacent to the Mambong clinker plant. Construction of the new RM190.0 million
plant began in 2014 and cement production is set to commence by the first half of 2016 (1H 2016). With
this third plant in its stable, CMS Cement’s total production capacity will increase by almost 60%. This
will enable CMS to meet growing cement demand in Sarawak, have significant reserve production
capacity, as well as potentially extend our supply into nearby countries.

CMS Cement Industries Sdn Bhd (49256-V)

This company, acquired by CMS Cement Sdn Bhd in 2007, is Sarawak’s sole manufacturer of clinker at its
plant at Mambong outside Kuching with a rated capacity of 900,000 MT per year. Adjoining the plant are
the company’s own quarrying concessions for its key raw materials namely limestone, shale and
sandstone covering over 78 hectares.

This plant’s clinker production meets approximately 50% of the Cement Division’s clinker needs with the
balance being imported.

CMS Concrete Products Sdn Bhd (366884-X)

This company, from its plant on the outskirts of Kuching, manufactures a range of pre-cast concrete
products including pre-stressed beams for bridges and other uses, reinforced concrete square piles, box
culverts, kerbs, cement sand bricks and a range of Industrialised Building Systems (IBS) products and
solutions, including wall panels, pre-cast columns and beams, half slabs, hollow blocks and staircases. As
an IBS Solutions Provider, the company also provides turnkey IBS design and build solutions.
