II. Brush Up

1.Why goal is important?

Goal is something that motivates and drives people. It gives us a sense of purpose. All
of possess a desire to achieve and a desire to be useful.
2. How to set goals in ?

a. Learning Keep specific goal in mind. Come up with strategy, resources and time. Be
confident and believe that it can be done. Pay attention and monitor own performances.
Ask for help if needed.

b. Life Most begin with a dream then turn it into a specific goal. Think of what you want
in every aspect of life. Family, spirituality, health, finances, career, relationships,
education etc. make subgoals for each that are attainable. Be committed to it. Learn to
prioritize.

3. Do you agree in Locke’s goal setting theory? Support your answer.

I agree because it’s true and research has proven that if one has a clear goal and
committed to it. It will be achieved. It is also true that setting vague goals will not
increase motivation.

4. Differentiate stress and distress

To be in distress is to be in a difficult and desperate situation and with it is pressure and

worry which are stress.

5. Is self-care and self-comparison the same? Comparison is wanting to help other

and may also be directed to one’s own self. It’s kind of the same as caring for own self.

6. Do you believe in the existence of the soul? Is the soul the same as spiritual self?
Support your answer. Yes, I believe there is a soul. Our being alive is proof to its
existence. The soul enables our body breath, causing all system of the body to function.
Had we been good or bad, it is the spirit that will receive eternal life in heaven or eternal
damnation in hell.
7. What does it mean by the statement “love without sex and sex without love”.
Explain by giving example.

Caring for the less fortunate is love without sex. What porn characters do is sex without
love.

I. Brush Up 1. Are you an ideal self or real self? Explain.

I am a real self like WYSIWIG, I do not pretend to be something or someone else. I

know i’m not a bad person.

d. Anthropological perspective of self John Locke’s anthropological

philosophy is most agreeable to me. Specially his thoughts on the
educationcurriculum.

a. Philosophical perspective of self With regards to the self, Socrates

is my choice. I too, also believe in the importance of examining one’s
own life. Seek wisdom and truth and moral excellence.

b. Sociological perspective of self I agree with Emile Durkheim’s

observation on the effect of progress to the population. It was true
then and is still true today. Despite the technological advancements
and seemingly overwhelming flow of information there is still the
despair.
React tothese statement
1. Men rank nipples of women as a definite hotspot

The case may be true with women but perhaps not with men. I suppose women’s nipple
are more sensitive than that of men.

2. The clitoris and the penis are the most erogenous zones of the human body
compared to the other zones.

I supposed it is true. I guess our creator meant for them to be that way to make sure
reproduction will take place.

3. According to Freud, the libido is the chief sexual energy of the human body

I can agree with Freud since the world libido refers to sex drive. It can be aroused with
or without desire. It may also be restrained defending on effect of various factors.

4. Body image is both internal (personal) and external (society)

I suppose it is true because our body image was formed the way external factors have
affected us and how we are perceived by society in which I am a part of.

5. Most people have no idea how much they eat.

True because most people just like me don’t take the time to read nutrition facts on food
items or know and understand caloric values of the foods we consume.
