Reflection: video presentation.

“You can still change, isang beses ka lang pwede mabuhay, dapat ayusin mo
na.” – Prince “former drug addict” In life full of problems, addiction is their way to
escape, but this way can cause their life. This essay will discuss and reflect on how
drugs can affect people’s life.

In the Philippines, the current government is known to their advocacy “anti-drug

law” which purpose is to kill out the drug addiction. In the past years many have
submitted to the authorities to change, this law helped addicts to have a chance to start
a new life. The numbers of drug related crimes have been drop because of this law and
also with the help of different television station they raise awareness through video
advocacies. Their advocacy is to stop teens on doing drugs, commonly the age range of
people who get addicts are the teens because of their curiosity and their problems.
Teens have lots of curiosity to do things on their own, they want to experienced
everything but the experienced of drugs is unstoppable that lead to addiction. It was
stated in one of the advocacies “hindi kailangan subukan para malamang mali” most
people today know the bad effect of excessive use of drugs so people must have the
control to resist their curiosity to try because they know the effect of it. But people who
got addicted to drugs starts with their curiosity about it. They want to experience the
feeling of getting high, but once they start and feel good about it, it becomes their own
habit and lead to addiction.

Party drugs is one of many kinds of drugs that was commonly sold to teenagers,
this type of drugs are composed of variations of drugs that can cause harm instantly in
one shot. ‘Molly’ a party drug from u.s. that is reportedly increased in usage because of
its variations, drug user got easily high because of high content. Also, the number of
HIV has increased due to repeated use of injection while doing drugs. Some drugs are
being used by injecting to oneself, but if a group of users used the same instrument
there is a high possibility that they transmit diseases like HIV.
Drugs have a huge effect on family and especially on who uses it. The common
effect on someone who uses it are loss of appetite, lack of sleep, getting high, etc. this
will kill your body. They can be separated through their love ones because of lack of
trust, almost everybody will do shamming on the user. Drugs, also may lead to other
crimes like stealing, assaults, rape, etc. that can change the perspective to someone
who do drugs into criminals.

In conclusion, most of teenagers are curious on doing drugs but, after they used
it they got addicted and bad effects like loss of family and crimes are next. People,
mostly teenagers must have knowledge on how drugs, for this will beneficial to all and
lessen the amount of people who will do drugs.

Expressing one’s point of view: Random drug testing

Schools are the second home for many students like me; we spend almost the
whole day at school so security and safety is important. Any form of violence and other
misbehaviour might cause damage to all, just like bullying, discrimination, exclusivity so
school provide solution for it to be eliminated.

Drug testing is one of them; people who are under drugs are most likely to have a
poor decision making that can cause an aggressive action or can hurt someone. Teens
are the most vulnerable in getting addicted to drugs, their brains are still developing and
if drugs get into their system they can cause major problems. Peer pressure is one of
the reasons why teens are got into drugs, maybe their environments are full of drug
users and drug testing can make students feel resisted in that peer pressure. In
executing test at school, people will have reason that students will be safer, as students
who are using drugs will be discouraged and will no longer affect students in a way that
it will cause problems for them. This safety will be assured and is believed to be what
many parents need to freely send their children to school.

Interestingly, the main purpose of the random drug testing is to identify if there is
someone who are using illegal drugs, this will benefit the school and also the one who is
caught because they can provide rehabilitation and help to get away in drugs. This will
decrease the number of people who will be addicted and also a intervention to someone
who are already starting doing drugs.

Correspondingly, if student are positive it will be taken a proper action. Drug

testing is made not to punish students when they are caught, they given a second
chance to change for a better life. Hence, this action will provide a long term result for
this will be the reason to identify the main root of the addiction.

In addition, many people are still afraid of this testing. DepEd representative
stated that “anyone who are proven to be positive will be in full confidentiality” this will
ensure that no one can be harassed because he/she tested positive in the test. Also, If
the students have nothing to hide, then they shouldn't have a problem with this.

To summarize, the random drug testing allows the early detection and intervention
for students who are positive, proper action and help will be provided. This action also
provide students to have a built-in reason to resist peer pressure, because most of teen
are well-known for this reason because they only want to try because of their curiosity
and eventually get addicted to it. Schools will also provide or fulfil their duty in
reassuring a safe and drug free environment, this will provide assurance to the students
and their parent s for the school is their second home. Lastly, it increases chances for
students to have a successful future.
