Dear Recruiters,

I am writing this letter to express my interest and motivation for PhD position under the title of “Laser
driven plasma sources of EUV light for nanolithography” at ARCNL Amsterdam, Netherlands. The role
of PhD candidate is you will explore the physical and chemical properties of thin films for extreme
ultraviolet (EUV) nanolithography applications. By utilizing experimental surface science technique
investigation of thin films properties ranging from structural variation for different growth methods to the
surface chemistry. I am confident that with my education and research experience in nanolithography i
can be a valuable part of the group.

I am currently enrolled in Master in Material science and engineering from University of Kiel, Germany.
As a part of my thesis work I conducted my research on Self-assembly of polystyrene monolayers by spin
coating and its application in Plasmonics energy harvesting and antireflection coating. The approach used
was bottom-up assembly. During my Master, I studied several subjects related like Nanochemistry and
nanotechnology, biochemistry, analytics, solid state physics etc. Apart from that, I believe that the
practical knowledge gained through research assistant position in Technical faculty CAU Kiel in the
group of Nanochemistry and nanotechnology can act as a helpful companion during my future research
work. As a research assistant at University of Kiel I worked on some research projects related to
Nanochemistry and nanotechnology. My role as researcher has not only enabled me to learn new
experiments and characterization techniques but also imparted to me solid teamwork, self-criticism and
communication skills.
I am a social person, carries very good communication skills, have ability to work separately and in team.
I am very excited to explore new avenues in my career and to bring my skills to this position which will
enable us to achieve our goal related to the project. This opportunity at ARCNL to pursue doctoral studies
and research career is unique in itself as I can avail the chance to get support and guidance from other
scientists having different research expertise. I am sure it will provide me an ideal research atmosphere
where I would be able to utilize my research skills at their best. If I am given a chance I am sure, I can
fulfill all the necessary requirements with my goals and attitude towards educational and research
excellence. My goal is to train myself thoroughly through PhD so that I can actively contribute to the
scientific society and especially I can serve to my country Pakistan.
