Scrooge is visited on Christmas Eve by the ghosts of Christmas past, present, and future to show him the errors of his ways. The ghosts take him on journeys through his past Christmas celebrations, his present by showing him the struggling Cratchit family, and a bleak future where his death is ignored. Scrooge is deeply moved and vows to change his miserly ways and embrace the Christmas spirit of generosity and kindness.

SCENE 1
Narrator: This is a Christmas Carol, a story about a bad man called Ebenezer
Scrooge (points at Scrooge). Today is a day before Christmas. Here comes Ann
Cratchit who is a Scrooge`s clerk.
Cratchit: (happily) Good morning Mrs. Scrooge! (shyly) You know I work very hard,
Mrs. Scrooge, so can I please not to come to work tomorrow?
Scrooge: (angrily) Why?
Cratchit: (shyly) It`s Christmas tomorrow, Mrs. Scrooge! My family is waiting for me.
Scrooge: (angrily) Christmas is humbug! We need to make money, Ann, so you must
come to work!
Cratchit: Pleeeaaase, Mrs. Scrooge!
Scrooge: Okay, okay, but you work extra hours next week! (he goes and mumbles)
Christmas is humbug, Christmas is humbug… (he goes bed and Ann walks off)

SCENE 2
Narrator: At midnight Scrooge has a strange visitor.
Scrooge: (scared) Who are you?
Marley: I’m Jacob Marley. I was your partner.
Scrooge: What do you want?
Marley: I want to warn you! I’m dead and must live as a ghost, because I was a very
bad man. I want to make you better person, Scrooge, so you don’t end up like me!
Scrooge: You are a bad dream! Go away! (he pulls the sheets over his head)
Marley: Tonight three ghosts will come and visit you. Goodbye, Scrooge! (flies off)
SCENE 3
Narrator: The clock strikes one. (Dong).
1st ghost: Wake up, Scrooge!
Scrooge: (scared) Who are you?!
1st ghost: I’m the ghost of Christmas past.
Scrooge: (angrily) What do you want?
1st ghost: I want to show you the past! (he/she takes Scrooge by the hand and the fly
to the past: there is a Christmas party with music an d dancing, a young Scrooge
dances and sings with other people)
Scrooge: Oh, this is me. Look, I was very happy in the past…
1st ghost: We must go back, Scrooge! (he/she takes Scrooge by the hand and they fly
back to his bedroom, Scrooge goes bed again)

SCENE 4
Narrator: The clocks strikes two. (Dong! Dong!)
2nd ghost: Wake up, Scrooge!
Scrooge: (scared) Who are you?
2nd ghost: I’m the ghost of Christmas present! (he/she takes Scrooge by the hand and
they fly to Cratchit`s house, his family sit around the dinner table and pray)
Cratchit: Dear Lord, we don’t have much money, but we are very happy today,
because we have got each other. Thank you for this wonderful family. Amen (he
smiles)
Scrooge: Oh, they are wonderful family. I am so alone. (he sees little Tim) What is
wrong with this boy?
2nd ghost: He is very ill, but the family has no money for medicine, because you don’t
pay Cratchit a lot of money!
Scrooge: (sadly) Oh, I’m so sorry. What I can do?
2nd ghost: You must change your life Scrooge! Come on, we must go back (they back
to Scrooge`s bedroom, Scrooge goes to bed again)
SCENE 5
Narrator: The clock strikes three. (Dong, dong, dong)
3rd ghost: Wake up, Scrooge!
Scrooge: (scared) Who are you?
3rd ghost: I’m the ghost of Christmas yet to come.
Scrooge: (angrily) What do you want?
3rd ghost: I want to show you your future! (he/she takes Scrooge by the hand and they
fly to a graveyard)
Scrooge: Where we are?
3rd ghost: Have a look!
Scrooge: (sees his tombstone) Oh, this is my grave! (looks closer, scared) But it is
empty!
3rd ghost: Yes, there is no body in this grave, because you`re a ghost, Scrooge! Just
like your good old friend Marley!
Scrooge: (she falls to his knees and begins cry) No, I want to changemy life! I want to
be better person! Please, give me a chance!
The third ghost takes Scrooge by the hand and they fly back to his bedroom, Scrooge
goes bad again, still crying quietly)

SCENE 6
Narrator: The next morning Scrooge wakes up to the sound of church bells
Scrooge: (exited, happily) It`s Christmas today! I must go to Crachit and give him
money for his family! And I must make a big Christmas party for everyone!!!
All characters: Merry Christmas, Mrs. Scrooge!
They sing a Christmas song together:
We wish you a merry Christmas
We wish you a merry Christmas
We wish you a merry Christmas
And a happy New Year!
