This is in response to your request submitted under the Access to Information
Act, received at Employment and Social Development Canada on September
19, 2018, and which reads as follows:
“Total amount of profit generated from in all of Canada from LMIA fee
between 1st April 2017 to 31st March 2018.
The Total number of Compliance Audit staff employed in Canada between
1st April 2017 to 31st March 2018.
The Total number of Temporary Foreign worker Unit staff employed to
process applications all over Canada during the period of 1st April 2017
to 31st March 2018. =
Total number of Caregiver LMIA received during the period of 1st April
2017 to 31st March 2018 in all of Canada.
Total number of LMIA applications approved for Caregivers in all of
Canada during the period of 1st April 2017 to 31st March 2018."
Employment and Social Development Canada collected a total of $37,930,450.00
of user fees in regards to Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) applications.
However, the LMIA user fees collected are not considered “profit’, as they are
collected to help recover costs associated with administering the TFW Program.
Canada : ealThe total number of Compliance Audit staff employed in Canada between
April 1, 2017 to March 31, 2018 is 202. Please note this amount is approximate as
staffing needs throughout the year in question has fluctuated.
The total number of Temporary Foreign worker Unit staff employed to process
applications all over Canada between April 1, 2017 to March 31, 2018 is 278.5
Please note this amount is approximate as staffing needs throughout the year in
question has fluctuated. Additionally, the ".5" represents staff in which only part of
their duties represents processing LMIAs
We no longer provide custom reports in response to individual requests, since
information on the Temporary Foreign Worker Program is now available to the
public on the Government of Canada’s Open Data.
Regarding the total number of caregiver LMIAs received during the period of
Aptil 1, 2017, to March 31, 2018, please be advised that the online tables don't
report data on the number of LMIA's received, they only provide the number of
approved positions for caregivers.
Regarding the total number of LMIA applications approved for Caregivers in all
of Canada during the period of 1st April 2017 to 31st March 2018, please be
advised that Table 8 (at the link below) provides the number of temporary
foreign worker (TFW) positions on positive Labour Market Impact Assessments
(LMIAs) issued for caregivers by National Occupational Classification - 2011
(NOC) and provincelterritory between 201701 and 20182.
