A. Engagement:
1. Post the following photos on the board.

2. Ask some pupils to arrange the events in the story. Prepare a


strip of paper with numbers for them to put below the photos
(Pictures of Michael Faraday, William Sturgeon, Joseph Henry)
History of scientist who contributed a lot in the history of
magnetism.
3. Ask another pupil to arrange the pictures.
4. Present the correct sequence of the photos. Emphasize the
people behind the magnet.
5. Show a bar of magnet. Let the pupils tell something about the
magnet. Ask them what they know about the magnet.
(Emphasize that magnet has two poles, show it to the class.)

What to do:

1. Place two bar magnets on the table.


2. Have the north pole of a bar magnet face the north pole of another
bar magnet. Place them at least 5 cm away from, nails, thumbtacks)
near the end of the magnet. Observe what happens
3. Have the south pole of a bar magnet face the south pole of another
bar magnet. Place them at least 5 cm away from each other.
Observe what happens.
4. This time have the north pole of a bar magnet face the south pole of
another bar magnet. Place them at least 5 cm away from each other.
Observe what happens.
5. Illustrate your observations for procedure 2, 3, and 4.
6. Present your output to the class.
