First Trimester: AY 2019-2020
LEARNING FACILITATOR
PERFORMANCE- BASED ASSESSMENT:
“Race to the Future: Integrating 21st Century
Skills into Science Tasks”

GOAL FOR THE ACTIVITY:

Race to the Future is an exciting and dynamic activity modelled after the reality television
show The Amazing Race. It exemplifies how 21st century skills can be incorporated into core subject
instruction and at the same time positively enhance student engagement. In this activity, students
work quickly and cooperatively with their teammates and use 21st century skills to successfully do
activities related to science content. The project aims to achieve the following goals:

a. to help students to gain an understanding of as much of the established body of scientific


knowledge as is appropriate to their needs, interests and capacities;
b. learners apply what they’ve learned during the General Biology 2 mid-term.
c. to develop students’ understanding of the methods by which this knowledge has been
gained, and our grounds for confidence in it (knowledge about science).
d. to promote active way of learning science facts and evaluate students’ knowledge on the
different topics in Science.

ROLE OF THE STUDENTS:

You are a Facilitator in the different stations where players are going to play. You need to
think of an activity for your station which will promote fun, active learning of science concepts.

AUDIENCE:

The audience for the race are representatives of the different orders (for Senior High
School) and two groups (for Junior High School) consisting of individual representatives each grade
level.

SITUATION:

As their final class output for the mid-term, learners are expected to work together as a team
to come up with different fun activities in learning Science concepts to fulfill requirements for the
learning area. Learners will be given 4 hours from 1-5 o’clock in the afternoon on September 13,
2019.

PRODUCT PERFORMANCE AND STANDARD:

PRODUCTS/OUTPUT/CONTENT

Learners are expected to submit an accomplishment report on the conducted activity.


STANDARDS AND CRITERIA:

Outputs and students will be rated based on the following standards:

o Participation on the Amazing Race 50 points


o Quality and Content of Accomplishment Report 30 points
o Timeliness/ Promptness 20 points
Total: 100 points
