ENGLISH FOR PRACTICAL PSYCHOLOGY

English for Specific Academic Purposes

Duration: 28 hours

The course module aims at developing students' reading, listening, comprehension and reproduction
skills through a variety of activities based on authentic texts (written and recorded) of both
descriptive and analytical nature covering major areas of general, developmental and applied
psychology. Students are encouraged to practice the above mentioned skills and to acquire core
psychological vocabulary mainly through reading and listening activities. Thus, the course has a
double purpose: students are expected to enhance not only their language command, but also their
overall professional knowledge.

The course is in two modules, intended for students of pre-intermediate - intermediate and upper-
intermediate - advanced levels of English.

Объем курса: 28 академических часов

Данный курс разработан в помощь слушателям факультета практической психологии. В его


задачи входит развитие у слушателей навыков академического чтения, работы с
академической лексикой и других академических навыков в применении к своей
дисциплинарной области. В качестве содержательной основы курса используется широкий
спектр аутентичных текстов аналитического и дескриптивного характера, охватывающих
основные разделы общей, возрастной и прикладной психологии. Полученные навыки и
знания закрепляются в разнообразных текстовых, речевых и тестовых ситуациях, которые
поддерживаются подборкой аудио- и видеоматериалов. Таким образом, слушатели не только
повышают свою языковую компетентность, но и расширяют свои профессиональные знания.
Курс рассчитан на слушателей с уровнем языка 4.0 – 6.0 по шкале IELTS и разработан в двух
модулях в соответствии с уровнем.
