Malaysia today stands out in the world and shows its miracle which different
ethnic communities live together in peace and harmony. It is extremely amazing to find
out that different ethnic communities can tolerant and respect cultures of each ethnic.
Many countries give positive comments to Malaysia as it is a unique country. Undeniably,
Malaysia has unique on society and culture, history, geography, economy and politics.
The unique of society and culture draw on the varied cultures of the different
people of Malaysia. Diversity of ethnic communities, society and culture are one of the
most outstanding characteristics in Malaysia. There are three main ethnic groups in
Malaysia. Those are Malays, Chinese, and Indians. Each ethnic has its own uniqueness
in cultures. For instance, Chinese does not wipe and sweep floor during Chinese New
Year. In Malaysia, the “Open House” concept has been widely practising during various
cultures and religions festival such as Gawai Day, Deepavali, Hari Raya and many more.
This concept allows strangers visiting their house to celebrate their festival together.
The geography of Malaysia likely deals with the tropical climate of Malaysia, a
country located in Southeast Asia. As it is located near the equator, thus, Malaysia has a
unique climate, being hot and humid throughout the year. Unique geography makes
Malaysia an attractive country to tourists. Some cities locate at a nice place. For
example, Melaka has once become an international harbor during 1400’s. It attracted
traders throughout the world.
Malaysia was once being colonized by others. The unique history of Malaysia
has attracted tourists came to this land to visit the historical places. As a shining example
historical place, Melaka, had be founded by ex-pirate, Prince Parmeswara when he was
resting one day under an Indian gooseberry tree. He later watched that a mouse deer
achieved the improbable and fought off his hunting dogs. Thus, Prince Parameswara decided
to build his country at the place where he sat.
Apart from further, there are many investors investing in Malaysia. This is
because Malaysia’s economy has highly entered a stabilized stage. Malaysia has
produced various products. For example, Proton and Perodua are the famous
productions of Malaysia. These products have been exporting to overseas. Malaysia
also involves in development projects such as petroleum in Miri, gold in Bau, and so
forth. Additionally, agriculture in the east of west Malaysia has attracted tourists around
the globe to Malaysia. These phenomena have tremendously increased Malaysians’
incoming.
Besides, Malaysia is a peaceful and harmony place. It is far from the war. Thus,
safeness of people in Malaysia can be assured. Besides, Malaysia is now an
independence country. It is no longer colonized by any country, but gains its
independence over years. The politics of Malaysia also takes place in the organisation of
a federal representative democratic constitutional monarchy. Yang di-Pertuan Agong is
head of state and the Prime Minister of Malaysia is the head of government. Malaysians
are free to practice democracy in selecting capable government. This stable politics has
attracted the interest of people from other countries to be Malaysians and stay
peacefully in this place.
First and foremost, we should start from schools to build up people’s mind of the
importance of racial unity. This is because school is the place for people to receive
knowledge and education. Thus, we can say that school plays an important role to
strengthen people’s racial unity. In the school, moral lessons must be given to all of the
students. This is because moral lessons which focus on moral value such as toleration,
respect to other races and patriotism can be learned. Besides, activities in school also
could steady young people’s racial unity. This happens because people need to
cooperate with each other, although they are in different races. As an example,
whenever school organises competition of basketball, contestants will highly cooperate
with their team to win the competition, even though their team has most probably mixed
up with difference races.
Home is the place where people stay to live. As all of us know, the time for a
people, who still continuous his studies, will perhaps spend 25% of their time in school,
15% outside, and 60% in their house every day. So, we can conclude that people spend
most of their time with their family. Thus, parents have responsibilities to teach their
children to stay harmony and respect different races. Parents must be the best role
model on how they treat kindly other races to their children. For example, Indians
parents can help to care their Malay neighbour’s children when their neighbours are
busy on something. Children will always follow their parent’s action. When they see the
action of their parents in which to respect and love other races, children will
automatically do the same.
Moreover, media like television, radio, newspaper and magazine should play
their roles to conduct people in this multiracial society. This is because we are now in
technological world. Most of the people will get the newest information from media.
Thus, media should broadcast the importance of racial unity in a country. For example,
television can televise film which shows the significance of patriotism. Movie or news
which will initiate conflict between ethnics must be strictly banned.
Last but not least, one of the effective ways to strengthen races unity in Malaysia
is that government has to take their step in enhancing the relationship between races.
This is because government is to keep country peace and harmony. Government can
organise campaigns to introduce the importance of racial unity and ways stay
harmonious with races. Campaign must be organised in everywhere. Places like schools,
shopping malls, markets and so on are beneficial in certain ways to attract people
attention to build up racial unity in their mind.
