NATIONAL SENIOR CERTIFICATE EXAMINATION

ENTRY PROCEDURE FOR IEB ASSESSMENTS (2018)

The IEB offers the assessments listed below. Schools are required to register learners online via the
IEB Web Based Application (www.ieb-online.co.za) – please refer to the Handbook for the User Manual or
logon at www.ieb.co.za to download the User Manual. This is the preferred method of entry for the
capturing of learners’ data. The IEB will email copies of application forms that schools may give to
candidates to complete their personal details. These forms are for the school’s use only and do not need to
be sent to the IEB.

Roll-over of candidates from previous years

Learner registration data may be rolled over from one year to the next. For example, if you registered
learners for the Grade 6 Core Skills Test in 2015, and you need to register for the Grade 9 Core Skills Test
in 2018, the whole 2015 group will be rolled-over to Grade 9 2018. The school will only need to make
changes where necessary.
In addition; learners may be rolled-over from one sector to another. For example, if you are registering for
the Grade 9 Subject Specific Tests and the Grade 9 Core Skills Test, you only need to capture learner
details for one sector. The learners will be rolled-over to the other sector.

2018 National Senior Certificate

If you participated in any of the assessments in 2017 (Grade 11) and 2016 (Grade10), the learners will be
rolled-over to 2018 Grade 12. You do not have to re-capture them. The school is required to link subjects to
candidates and make corrections where necessary. Where a learner has left the school, the learner must be
deleted and new learners must be added to the database by the school.

It is essential that the spelling of names, the order of names and the date of birth, be checked against the
Birth Certificate or Identity Document. The Principal must accept personal responsibility for the accuracy
of these particulars. Where immigrant status or an accommodation has been granted to a candidate, the IEB
will be responsible for entering that data onto the database. You are required to ensure that this data has
been captured correctly.

The deadline for submission of NSC entries to the IEB is 22 February 2018. This date must be adhered to
as the time-table is compiled using this information. Schools may make corrections to the learner details
by logging on to www.ieb-online.co.za until the end of June. Please note that these corrections do not
include subject changes. Please refer to the Handbook for subject changes.

General

The deadlines for the submission of entries for all other assessments are reflected in the table above.

The Principal must ensure that the entry procedure is carried out accurately, as she/he is ultimately
responsible for the entries from her/his school.

We urge schools to adhere to these deadlines so that the IEB processes can run efficiently.
