STC (Buffer Tank 25KL) - Calc PDF

The document is a calculation sheet for the design of a 25,000 liter buffer tank according to API standard 650. It includes calculations of the minimum required thicknesses for the bottom plate (5 mm), shell plate (1.5 mm), shell openings (schedule 40S and 80S), and roof manhole (5 mm). All of the actual thicknesses used meet or exceed the minimum required thicknesses according to the standard.

II. Calculation of thickness of shell plate

per S.3.1
Symbol :

Type = Circular vertical tank with roof cone

td = Design shell thickness : 1,50 mm
tt = Hydrotest shell thickness : 5,00 mm
D = Nominal diameter of shell (see. 3.6.1.1) : 2,55 m
H = Design liquid level (see 3.6.3.2) : 4,80 m
G = Specific gravity of the liquid to be stored : 0,95
E = Joint efficiency : 0,70
CA = Corrosion allowance (see 3.3.2) : 1,50 mm
Sd = Allowable stress for design condition (Mpa) : 22100 Psi
(see table S-2)
St = Allowable stress for hydrotest condition (Mpa), (see table S-2)
