Review: Fact or Bluf
Answer Fact if the statement is correct and Bluf if it is wrong.
1. Objects need force to be in motion.
2. Objects in motion do not change position.
3. Anything that stays stationary can be used as reference point.
5 minutes 4. Motion refers to the changing position.
5. A reference point can be a moving object.
4.2 Activity
Motivation : Show the picture of The Flash

Ask: Who do you think is in the picture?

What does he do?
Do you know how fast he moves?
What will you do in order to know how fast he moves?
Say: This time, let's have an activity to know how fast an object or a person moves.
( Give the standards in doing the group activity )
Group the students into three.
GROUP 1 : The Fast and The Curious
Directions: Choose 3 runners in your group. Then, choose a timer, recorder, observer,
and reporter.
GROUP 2 : THE MATHEMATICIANS
Directions: Study the table below and fill in the missing data. Show and explain your
solution. Assign somebody to report.

10 minutes GROUP 3 : The Risk Reduction Team

Directions: List down tips on road safety to avoid accident. Promote your tips to the
riding public in a creative way.

Before starting the activity, please know on how you will be graded.
(Present the rubrics on Group Activity)

4.3 Analysis

Ask the following questions:

1. How did you find the activity?
2. For The Fast and The Curious, who won the race?
3. What did you do in order to win?
4. Did you run carelessly? Why or why not?
5. What did you do to finish on time?
10 minutes 6. For The Mathematician, what vehicle runs fast?
7. How did you know?
8. How did you compute for the speed?
9. If you are going to choose any of the 3 given vehicle, which will you ride? Why?
10. For The Risk Reduction Team, why is it important to observe traffic rules and
road safety precautions while driving?
11.If you are given a chance to have your dream car or dream big bike, how will
you drive it?
4.4 Abstraction
Define speed.
How do we calculate the speed of an object?
Information Background
The speed of any object in motion is the rate at which the object moves.
Speed depends on distance travelled and the length of time travelled. A meter
or kilometer is used to measure the distance. Meter is used for measuring short
distances while kilometer is used for measuring long distances. Time is
5 minutes measured in seconds or hours. Seconds is used for short length while hour is for
long length of time in long distances. To find the speed, you will divide the
distance travelled by the length of time. Speed is expressed in meter per second
(m/s) or kilometer per hour (k/h). You can simply compute for the speed if you
know the distance and the time travelled.

Seconds is used for short length while hour is for long length of time in long
distances. To find the speed, you will divide the distance travelled by the length
of time. Speed is expressed in meter per second (m/s) or kilometer per hour
(k/h). You can simply compute for the speed if you know the distance and the
time travelled.
4.5 Application Read the problem and solve for the speed.
1. On a family vacation, you traveled 1 200 km. Your total time was 30 hours. What was your average
speed?
2. A rocket travels 4 500 meters in 150 seconds. What is the average speed?
3. If a bullet travels 2 500 m at 50 m/s, how long will it take to reach its target?
10 minutes 4. A cyclist cover a distance of 15 miles in 2 hours. Calculate his speed.
5. If you plan to travel a long distance the next day, what time will you go? Why?

4.6 Assessment

I. Choose the letter of the correct answer. Write the answer before the number.
__1. What is the speed of the ball that moves to about 10 meters in 2 seconds?
A . 5 m/s B. 20 m/s C. 1 m/s D. 50 m/s
__2. Which is a unit of speed?
A. m/s B. s C. kg D. hr
__3. If you travel 80km in 2 hours, what was your average speed?
A. 10 km/h B. 40 km/h C. 20 km/h D. 4 km/ h
__4. Which of the following shows a fast speed?
Tests
5 minutes A. 5 m/s B. 4 m/s C. 2 km/h D. 1 km/h
__5. If a person walked at 2 m/s for 12 s he/she would travel a distance of___.
A. 6 m B. 3 m C.4 m D. 24 m

II. Answer the question briefly. Show your solution and formula.
1. A car travels 240 kilometers for 6 hours. What is the speed? ( 3 points )
2. Explain briefly the importance of driving safely and following traffic rules. (2
points)

4.7 Assignment
Reinforcing /
strengthening the Make a slogan campaigning the importance of following speed limit.
2 minutes day’s lesson

4.8 Concluding Activity

The true measure of a man is not what he dreams of, but what he aspires to be; a dream is nothing
without action. Whether one fails or succeeds is irrelevant; all that matters is that there was motion in
his life. That alone affects the world.

What are the types of forces?

What kind of force applied to a cable or wire that is anchored on
opposite ends to
opposing walls or other objects? ( Tension Force)
What is the force caused by two surfaces that come into contact with
each other?
( Frictional force)
It refers to a force that is applied to an object such as when a person
moves a piece of
furniture across the room or pushes a button on the remote control.
(Applied force)
What is force? ( A force is a push or a pull that causes changes in
motion)
