"We put on a fake smile to hide the pain, yet we wish someone would look closely enough and see how
broken we really are inside."
Socially awkward is a phrase that she'd use to describe herself.
Meet Wren Martin. She blocks off herself to the world, hiding behind her favorite hoodie, believing that if
she does this, her agonizing pain will never resurface - that tears and nightmares will be a thing of the past.
When she arrives at her over-the-top high school, however, certain circumstances lead to her meeting the
school's most popular and notorious boy, Asher Reed, who has his mind set to change everything she stands
for, and save her along the way.

Ugh!

I tried reading this last year but because it was inbetween updates and I was doing my HSC, I never got a
chance to finish it. After reading it in full, I can safely say that it's probably one of the best books I've read on
Wattpad. Wren, the main character, is so much like me and Asher is just too good for the world. I'd seriously
recommend it to any Wattpad newbies!
Jennifer Green says
This was a fun story and had some really good characters. There were a lot of editorial things that need to be
fixed, but it's a Wattpad edition that is unedited, so I was expecting that. The only thing that I really didn't
enjoy about the book is the whole rags to riches reveal. I feel like the book could have been just as good
(possibly better) without Wren finding out that she's loaded. First of all, why wouldn't anyone tell her that
her parents had money and she inherited it in the 2 years since they died? I don't know a lot of situations
where the contents of a will would be kep from someone. Yes, she is a minor and the reveal is done when
she turns 18, but who in their right mind would let someone believe they are struggling to make ends meet
when they don't need to? I also found the foster/adopted mom reveal to be a bit awkward too. I mean I get
that she didn't want to share that information with anyone but again, not convinced that Wren would have
made the switch from her dead mom, who she still obviously loves, to call her adopted mom "mom" with the
same affection in such a short time. But enough with the two things that bothered me. I liked the other
characters, felt like the Brody situation was real and a good twist, and had a few chuckles here and there.

Unexpectedly this was one of the best stories I've read on wattpad.
And aside from that it is, for an author as young as this one, a huge accomplishment.
Very well written, with just some typos and grammar mistakes that could be easily edited. Very profound in
meaning and context. With some heavy sociological and psychological impact.
I find it amazing that a teenage girl has such a huge talent for writing. There are best sellers out there that
didn't leave an imprint on my thoughts, like this Hoodie Girl.
Although the author stated that she doesn't write often and it isn't her goal in life, I believe that this gift of
hers could be nurtured into becoming a real career. She just has it.
And I am such a huge fan of smut, this didn't even have that, the most that it had was some kissing. You got
to give it to the author for making me love something that under normal circumstances would have bored me
to death. What little it had it really carried a punch.
I am glad there are young prodigies out there who can transport you to another world just with words.
So thank you Ms. Yuen for sharing this piece of you with the world.

Funny. Depressing. Romantic. Heartbreaking. Teaches you a lot about life, and how to embrace its ups and
downs. You'll feel like the writer is professional and knows what to write and how to write it.
Edwina says
Thought this would be a cliche bad boy and good girl type of Wattpad novel but clearly it changed my
viewpoint on the storyline itself because the story navigated the pain of Wren's (the main protagonist) life.
Superbly written and the ending was a fitting end as well!
Amy says
For a teen-romance book written online in sixty-three chapters with maybe 5000 words each, this was really,
really, really, good.
The plot is extremely character driven and does have a few cliches, although they are absolutely adorable.
There are a few moments where the plot is moved by circumstance, but it's not common. It's probably the
reason I can't picture the setting that well. Each of the characters goes through development of some sort,
which worked really well because the character cast isn't particularly large, so it added a lot instead of
seeping the life out of the story.
There is no way to hate any of the characters. You might dislike them, but they all have their moment which
was probably my favorite part of this story. It's so real, how they all have their worst days and then they have
this moment where you just go oh! and forgive them a little more. It's fabulously realistic. I absolutely love
the way friendship was portrayed in this too, and forgiveness.
I'm conflicted on the exclusion of certain memories in some parts. I get why it happened, it made sense for it
to happen, but I didn't like the way it was done. Instead of the character skirting around memories, it was
written in a way so that I was questioning whether they have this memory gap or I was just reading it wrong.

The hoodie girl is book that takes you on the teenage journey that's filled drama, romance, and humor. Its a
recommended book for those of you who LOVE drama and romance. Its adventures include friends that hide
a mysterious past. The mystery and suspense makes the story beautiful. Although it is not scary its just
sketchy pasts. Its mostly about a socially awkward girl who finds love in the most unique places.
Courteney Fisher says
A cute book. Loved Asher. There wasn't much mentioned about the hoodie which was strange as it was a
motif throughout. Also the protagonist was annoying at times and seemed bratty even though I know she's
been through a tough time I didn't like that. Would have loved more about sub characters.
Holly says
Amazing book! Character development and plot worked together simultaneously to create this amazing tale.
A good cheesy romance.
Emma says
Read the book.
This is a very passionate and beautiful book and I feel blessed to have read it. The characters are so lovable
and hilarious, and they are AWESOME. But what I love so so so much is Wren's story. With a broken and
pained-filled past she hides behind her hoodie but then she met Asher ( who is so AMAZING ) and slowly
they healed each other. Okay, so if you didn't like how this review sounds, believe me when I say that the
novel is much better than how I described it. It is so cute too
Yashaa Bajracharya says
Also one of the books read in Wattpad and highly enjoyed reading this book.
The main character, who is Wren Martin, is so relatable to me, she seemed so much like me in many ways
like not-wanting-attention type, hiding behind her hoodie, keeping to herself and being herself with people
who she considers friends. And Asher and Wren's love story was so sweet and the things he does for her...I
can so reflect the happiness from Wren. The story's fluent, sad, humorous and cute.
Overall, love the book a lot.
Mandi Morgan says
Read on Wattpad. Good story. Though at times there are awkward sentences that make you pause. And she
seems to be growing and maturing but nope she reverted back to being a mess. Which gets old fast. But
otherwise a very entertaining story.
Vanessa says
Asher and Wren!!! They were so cute together!!! Wren had so many horrible things happening in her life and
she deserved not only a happy ending but a happy book!! I need more of Asher too!!! How was college for
them, did they have problems? How are they doing?!?!?
Ugh... I guess I will have to read the spin off!!!
