A Little Girl Throws Her Jackstone Ball Horizontally Out of The Window With A Velocity of 30 M

The document contains 6 physics problems involving projectile motion with varying initial velocities and angles. The problems ask for calculations of maximum height, time of flight, horizontal distance, and final velocity before impact with a surface below. Key details include the initial velocities, angles, heights of platforms or planes, and gravitational acceleration.

1.

A little girl throws her jackstone ball horizontally out of the window with a velocity of 30
m/s. If the window is 3 m above the level ground, how far will the ball travel before it hits
the ground?

2. A diver runs horizontally with a speed of 1.20 m/s off a platform that is 10.0 m above the
water. What is his speed just before striking the water?

3. An airplane moving horizontally with a constant velocity of 115 m/s at an altitude of 1050 m.
The plane releases a “care package” that falls to the ground along a curved trajectory.
Ignoring air resistance, (a) determine the time required for the package to hit the ground.
Suppose that the plane is traveling with twice the horizontal velocity (230 m/s), (b) determine
the time required for the package to hit the ground.
4. A place-kicker kicks a football at an angle of 40° above the horizontal axis. The speed of the
ball is vi = 22 m/s. Find the maximum height the ball attains.

5. Suppose a golf ball is hit off the tee with an initial velocity of 30.0 m/s at an angle of 35° to
the horizontal.
a. What is the maximum height reached by the ball?
b. What is the range?

6. A rifle fires a bullet with a speed of 250 m/s at an angle of 37° above the horizontal.
a. What height does the bullet reach?
b. How long is the bullet in the air?
c. What is the horizontal range?
