PROJECT PROPOSAL

Summary

1.0 Problem
Over the past few years we’ve encountered many catastrophe that causes bad effects on our
community and also in our school. One example of this catastrophe is typhoon, although we
can’t stop it we can still prevent its bad effects to our community. Typhoon causes landslides
that may endangered us most especially when your house is near a landslides prone area. This
problem is one of our focus, to prevent it. Aside from this problem, we’ve noticed that there is
a noticeable increase of littering and environmental degradation in our campus and in the
community. Plastics like candy wrappers, junk food wrappers, water bottles and others are not
properly disposed in the campus even though there is a separate trash can, and it is also
observed that students were buying foods outside but they are dumping their garbage inside
the school campus. In the community some people were dumping their garbage on the river
that may cause the river to be pollute. It is also observed that there is an activity of river poising
in the community. And lastly it is also observed that the community is losing some trees.

1.1 Solution
Proper waste disposal and prevention of environmental degradation are the things that we
have in mind, but despite our intentions some students will always break the rules in protecting
the environment. This proposal serves as a warning and a reminder to everyone to take care
our environment, nature, and mother earth.
Garbage bins with labels should be placed throughout the school, most especially in the
affected areas. This trash bins will be placed throughout the school by our group and other
volunteers from the clubs and organizations. We will also conduct a daily check-ups to ensure
that the garbage is properly disposed and segregated.

Project Description
1.2 Objectives
1. To be able to prevent the extinction of endangered species.
2. To be able to decrease the case of illegal logging.
3. To be able to promote the use of organic fertilizers.
4. To be able to apply REDUSE, REUSE, RECYCLE in our community and school.
5. To be able to decrease the level of water pollution.

2.2 Action Plan

The first part of the project it to educate the school and the community the endangered species
in the area.
We students will also encourage the people in the community to grow native plants. Growing
native plants means we are providing food and shelter for native wildlife.
We will also spread information about the effects of illegal logging by giving fliers to the
community and to the students.
We will be conducting a tree planting with the community and other volunteers from the
school.
After the tree planting we will be putting signages in the areas were we planted.
Instead of using a plastic bags as trash bins we will be using a reusable trash bins. We will also
put labels on it to avoid confusions among people and also to maintain a proper segregation.
This trash bins will be placed throughout the school and also to the community.
At the same time, we will voluntarily collect/pick trash that is scattered in the campus, along
the road, and other public places in the community.
However this cannot be a permanent place for disposing waste. We also need to determine
were the community usually dump the collected waste properly not in the river but in the
correct dumping sites.
Lastly we will also be conducting a river clean-up drive in partnership with the community and
the school clubs and organizations.
This project needs a cooperation within our group, the school and also the community.

Possible Outcomes

The possible outcome of this project are:

We will be able to decrease the case of illegal logging, water pollution, littering, loss of
animals, and environmental degradation. The community and the students will have a
knowledge about the possible outcomes if they continue their wrong doings to the
environment. The community will also have knowledge in using organic fertilizers instead of
using fertilizers that is harmful to people and to the animals. We can also avoid the possible
effects of typhoons. Aside from this things we can also earn some money by selling plastic
bottles that were collected. Most importantly, we will learn on how to appreciate and take care
our mother earth and will be able to share all the things that we learn to other people.

Conclusions
First and foremost, having a clean environment is important not only for our healthy
living but for the survival of all living things. Having a clean environment will keep us from
sickness. If we will totally pollute the air many people would develop diseases, if we pollute the
water we will not be having a good source of clean water, if we pollute the soil we will not be
able to plant crops, if we cut down trees we will not be able to breathe clean air, and if we hunt
animals they will extinct. And most importantly, the less we pollute our environment, the more
we prevent global warming. There is only one solution that is take care of our mother earth. As
the saying goes “Take care of the earth and the earth will take care of you”.
