PRESENT PROGRESSIVE SPELLING RULES

Present Continuous = : Usamos para hablar de cosas que estan sucediendo en el momento.
I AM TALKING ON THE PHONE .

persona verbo TO BE VERBO + ing complemento


Yo estoy hablando por teléfono.

What are you doing? = ¿Qué estás haciendo?

Most verbs ending in Most verbs add “ing”


“y” add ING
No Change buy + ing = buying eat - eating
enjoy + ing = enjoying speak - speaking
play + ing = playing cook - cooking
say + ing = saying start - starting
try + ing = trying do - doing
talk + ing = talking stay - staying
sing + ing = singing fix - fixing

Verbs ending with -ie


Verbs ending in “e”
drop the final “e”
Change the -ie to -y
hope - hoping
and add -ING
ride - riding

Change make - making


write – writing
die - dying
tie - tying
believe- believing lie - lying
drive- driving
dance-dancing

Verbs ending with one


vowel and one consonant

For one syllable verbs

double the consonant and If the 2nd syllable is


add -ING stressed , double the

jog - jogging

sit - sitting admit - admitting
run - running prefer - preferring
stop – stopping begin - beginning
