Little Matthew
There was an old woman who lived alone in a bungalow house in Kampung Seni. Her
husband died three years ago. She was lonely because she did not have children. Although
she was rich, she was lonely.
One morning, she heard a knock on her door. When she opened the door, she saw a
basket at her doorstep. There was a baby boy inside the basket. He was only a three-month-
old baby. She pitied the baby. So, she took him inside. She changed him and fed him. As she
did not know the baby’s name, she named him Little Matthew. She waited for a few days for
Little Matthew’s parents to come to claim him but they did not come.
After a few days, she went to the police station with Matthew. She talked to the police.
The police told the old woman that they had to put Little Matthew under the custody of the
Welfare Department. She reluctantly let him go.
The old woman missed Little Matthew. So, she went to the Welfare Department to visit
him. When she saw him, she was so happy that she decided to adopt Little Matthew. She would
