Kata ganti dalam Bahasa Inggris berubah bentuknya sesuai dengan jabatan kata tersebut dalam
sebuah kalimat. Jabatan tersebut dibedakan menjadi:

Ciri-ciri : - Terletak di depan to be / kata kerja (dalam kalimat positif).
- Biasanya terletak di awal kalimat.

OBJECT
Ciri-ciri : - Terletak di belakang to be / kata kerja.
- Terletak di belakang preposition : for, to, from, with, about, etc.
Contoh : - The driver drives the car. it
- The teacher teaches Tom and me. us
- Tom buys books for Susan. Them, us
Bentuk subyek dan obyek dapat dipakai sebagai pelengkap dalam kalimat sesudah:

POSSESSIVE
Ciri-ciri : - Nama/jabatan diikuti bentuk ‘s’ dan benda yang dimilikinya.

- This men’s shirts are all white. their
- I like Susan’s old dresses. her
OBJECT POSSESSIVE
Ciri-ciri : - Nama/jabatan diikuti ‘s’ tanpa diikuti benda yang dimilikinya karena benda
yang dimiliki telah disebut sebelumya.
Contoh : - My book is white. Susan’s is brown. hers
- The car is John’s. his
- The children’s pictures are good. I like the children’s. theirs
