ELEMENTARY ART TEACHER
Accountable for ensuring the safety of the students in the classroom and hallways. Responsible for monitoring students
behaviors, creating lesson plans and grading assignments. Encouraging creativity and self expression among students by
developing students drawing, coloring, and painting techniques. Art educators are responsible for recording and
reporting on students progress. Monitoring inventory and sourcing art supplies as needed, attending faculty and parent-
teacher meetings. Preparing the classroom by gathering and setting up equipment and providing instruction on the use of
media such as graphite, charcoal pencils, oil, acrylic and watercolor paint. Establish and communicate clear learning
objectives in order to develop age appropriate instructional strategies to achieve the art curriculum goals. Inform students
about cultural and historical influences of art by encouraging students to understand and appreciate art. Plan and present
art displays for art exhibits and art shows district wide.
                  Skills: Art educators are knowledgeable in art history, basics of design, art elements and principles and
         different art genres in order to teach a range of art styles and techniques. Have the ability to communicate
         concrete and abstract concepts to students and cultivate creativity. Problem solving skills, planning flexibility and
         verbal/written communication skills. Knowledgeable in art teaching, assessment and evaluation. The ability to
         assist students using different media to develop art works aligned to the students artistic abilities. Develop an
         aesthetic understanding and appreciation that allows students to make qualitative judgments about art.
