Unit #13: Multiplication

Lesson Explanation
 Multiplication is when you take one number and add it together a number of times.
 Symbol of Multiplication is ×.
 Order of number does not matter in multiplication.
 Multiplication of two numbers is equal to adding as many copies of one of them.
 For example:
 3 × 4 = 12 (3 multiply 4)
 4 + 4 + 4 = 12 (adding 3 times 4)
 When you multiply any number with zero, the answer is zero.

Adding Equal Group:


Adding equal groups will give you the same numbers multiplication.

a. There are 3 three groups of toy aero planes.


There are 4 four toy aero planes in each group.

+ +
= 12

 3 fours = 12
 3 fours = 3 × 4 = 12

a) Circle the tree into groups of 6.


Groups of 6 mean 6 trees in one group.

Ans: First count 6 trees and put them in one group and continue it until all groups are
done.

There are 2 groups.

Each group has 6 trees.

2 Sixes = 12

2 sixes = 2 × 6 = 12

2 × 6 = 12
