Historical
Background

By virtue of the approval of Republic Act 1806 on June

22,1957 initiated by Congressman Luis Hora, “MOUNTAIN
PROVINCE GENERAL HOSPITAL” came into existence, and
started its operation in 1964.
A T-shaped concrete hospital’s main building was finally
constructed in 1977 with 50 bed capacity then increased to 75
beds. An additional wing was added in 1989 and the hospital
complex now resembles the letter “H”, top view.

On April 27, 1984, Batas Pambansa No. 836 authored by

Congressman Victor S. Dominguez was approved. This act
changed the name of Mountain Province General Hospital to
“LUIS HORA MEMORIAL HOSPITAL”. Similarly, he was
responsible for the eventual passage of RA 7445 “An Act
increasing bed capacity from 75 to 100 beds” which was
approved on April 27, 1992.

On 1993, “Devolution” of health services took effect.

Rural Health Units and Barangay Health stations were devolved
to municipalities and hospital was devolved to the Provincial
Government.

By virtue of RA 8314, approved June 20,1997 An Act

Designating the Luis Hora Memorial Hospital in Bauko,
Mountain Province, as the Regional Hospital of the Cordillera
Administrative Region, and Appropriating Funds Therefore.

In 2014, Health Sec. Enrique Ona issued Administrative

Order 22-2014 authorizing the Luis Hora Memorial Regional
Hospital (LHMRH) in Bauko to operate as a medical center with
Level 2 privileges.

AO 22-2014 also puts in effect the implementing rules

and regulations (IRR) of Republic Act 7445, which increased
the hospital’s bed capacity and RA 8413, which converted it to
a regional hospital.
Additional Information:

 It was Mountain Province Rep. Maximo Dalog Sr., who

worked for the Implementing Rules & Regulations of
these laws (RA 7445 & RA 8314)

 Appropriate funds on the operation of the hospital as

regional was provided.

 Increased in personnel adopting the DOH- Revised

Staffing Pattern with 292 positions.

Narrative Report

February 4, 2020 will be the start of our work immersion. We

prepared everything we need for our first day and we can tell that
everybody is excited after the long wait. We arrived on time but we were
asked to wait because they are having their Flag Raising Ceremony. Our
first day was fine, greetings, get to know each other and everything. We
started working on the computer’s hardware and Sir Ernie introduced us
and refreshed our minds with the parts of the system unit.

The following days had been busy. We also helped at the HR to

complete the needed information of the employees of Luis Hora. Sir also
gaves us challenges like how do we troubleshoot the computer if it does
not boot and how to us a paper clip in troubleshooting. We manage to fulfil
the tasks by applying what we learned in school. We are also given time
to explore and try more ways to troubleshoot.

We then moved on to Networking wherein we made one computer

as the server then connected it to the network to share files with the other
computer. We had a problem because we cannot find the shared file
eventhough we tried what we learned in school. Knowing about this, Sir
then showed us some shortcut on how to see the shared file so we also
tried the procedure ourselves.

Next is Sir introduced to us the main router used by the hospital

and as expected he again gave us challenge to connect to the main router
of LMHRH and using another router as a switch. After doing some
research and trial and error we managed to find a way then used it to do
the task. They always reminds us also to remember always the IP
Addresses that we are using to avoid conflict on the network.

The next task for us was to use ADDS to do or provide specific

roles and policies for the computer. With the help of our mentors, we are
given some clue to start with our work. As usual, we were advised to do
proper research and try them on to help us lessen the hassle. We are
surely making progress with the help of everyone in the office giving us
some advice and clues and also with the help of Mr. Google.

After completing all the tasks given to us, Sir Ernie also never failed
to give us summaries of what we had done the whole week and we were
also given advices to use on such incidents.

Then we moved on to preventive maintenance, the last part of our

COC. We were again given introduction on what preventive maintenance
is and some circumstances that we will encounter.

We were given the privilege to go around the hospital’s offices to

provide computer maintenance. We did some virus scanning, removing
applications that are not necessary and hardware cleaning. All our efforts
were changed to happiness when we are being paid with good feedbacks
and warm smiles.

We continued our tasks until we finished and sometimes we were

asked to help on repairing printers or something if we are not busy.

We learned many things throughout our 10 days work immersion.

We’ve encountered problems but we have our Sirs and Ma’am’s to help
us solve it. They had introduced us many new things that will increase our
knowledge and help us in the future.

Even if it is just two weeks, we were so thankful that we are one of

the lucky students who had the privilege to learn with them. The memories
we shared in that short amount of time will be cherished and the lessons
we had learned will not be forgotten and will forever be within us.

Immersion

Reflection

The work immersion is one of the major steps in our journey. One that
should be recognized for its immence significance. Our hard work and efforts are
not wasted. Our experience molded us to be more efficient.

We started this immersion having enough knowledge to start our

challenge. But like what Sir Ernison said, if we think we know it all, we better
think twice. He’s got a point because as we started our immersion until we
finished, there are many new things that we learned. The knowledge we had at
school were upgraded in our work immersion. We are taught to be prepared all
the time because we don’t know when will the problems occur. There are also
times when each of us felt like we can’t possibly go on with the tasks assigned to
us, but we are not alone, we are all in that journey together.

Most importantly, this experience is about growing, having opportunities

and learning new skills that we will carry with us for the rest of our lives.

We will take accomplishment as a sign of how anything is possible when

we put our minds into it. We’ll also take this experience with confidence,
knowing that we had achieved great heights and we are equipped with the
necessary tool to use in our future.
