Hyde Group Topic: Negative Effects Of Rap Music On Youth Class: 4F Plan Of Investigation “Negative Effects of Rap Music on Youth” is of the interest to our group since many of our peers listen to rap music and we have seen how it has negatively influenced them to perform illicit activities or rebel against their superiors.
As students of English, we expect to improve in our writing and

It is believed that many youth who listen to rap music are viewed to have more violent tendencies compared to those who do not listen to rap music. This includes being more disrespectful and aggressive towards their elders. A study from Emory University concluded that teens between the ages of fourteen and eighteen who listened to rap music roughly around fourteen hours a week were three times more likely to get in a fight with a teacher, 2.5 times more likely to find themselves getting arrested, and 1.5 times more likely to partake in illegal activities. Another study from 2005 from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine found that the top rap songs for teens that year had seventy-seven percent mentions of drugs and alcohol. This was a problem because for many teens, rappers are what might be considered their idols, and a good majority of rappers partake in using drugs as well as participating in gang violence. The Pacific Institute of Research and Evaluation researched 1,200 California community-college students (ages 15–25). The participants answered survey questions about their music-listening habits, use of alcohol and drugs, and aggressive behaviors like fighting. Clements concern regarding hip hop and drug use seems to be true because the study discovered that 70% of the students who listened to hip hop or rap music had connections with their substance use and aggressive behaviors. https://medium.com/@moni_ach/how-are-hip-hop-and-rap-music-affecting-the-youth-4b4a03b03236
