AspenONE Installation on Individual Computers

Department of Chemical Engineering
Texas Tech University.
Texas Tech chemical engineering students are entitled to install a free, full-featured
AspenONE engineering package on their personal computers. TTU’s license, accessed
via TTUNet, allows 150 simultaneous users of the software. The package used for classes
at TTU requires 9 GB of hard disk space.
AspenTech products run as 32-bit applications on 32-bit and 64-bit Windows 7, 8, and 10
operating systems. There are no versions of AspenTECH products available for other
operating systems, including those from Apple.
Obtaining a personal copy of AspenONE products.
1) Bring a flash drive to Prof. Ted Wiesner or the designated teaching assistant. The flash
drive should have 31 GB of free space, and be formatted as NTFS. If formatted in
another file system, the drive will be formatted as NTFS, which will erase all existing
data on the drive. Please allow ~ 30 minutes to transfer the files.
2) Plug the flash drive into your computer, open it and click on Setup.exe, as indicated
in the figure below. Allow 50 minutes to set up the software.

Note
a) Your computer must be able to “see” the Chemical Engineering license server in
order for AspenONE to run. The license supports 150 simultaneous users,
regardless of location.
b) If you connect to TTUnet on campus, either wirelessly or with a wired connection,
your computer will automatically find the server.
c) If you connect from off-campus through a third-party Internet Service Provider,
you must set up a Virtual Private Network (VPN), so that you can tunnel through
the TTU firewall to TTUNet.
d) Setting up a VPN only requires your eRaider username and password. The
details on setting up a VPN to TTUnet are given on the Information Technology
website at http://www.depts.ttu.edu/ithelpcentral/solutions/VPN/index.php.
7) aspenONE Drive is AspenTech’s cloud storage service. TTU does not subscribe to this
service; all user files are stored on the user’s storage media. Simply click “Next” on
this screen.
