GCSO LAW ENFORCEMENT SUMMARY


MAY 4, 2020 – MAY 10, 2020

On Monday, May 4, at approximately 2:30 AM, Deputy V. Everett responded to a


disturbance in the area of Hayes Avenue in Highland View. A man was reported
wandering the area, through people’s yards, and shouting obscenities. Deputy Everett
located the subject and identified the man as Darien Nathen Hutcheson (42). Hutcheson
was placed under arrest and charged with Disorderly Conduct.

On Monday, May 4, Sgt. S. Ferrell executed an arrest warrant during a traffic stop on Dead
Lakes Drive by arresting James Austin Norris (23). Norris was wanted for Violation of
Probation on the original charges of Possession of Methamphetamine and Grand Theft.
While taking Norris into custody, Sgt. Ferrell found a small baggie containing heroin and
syringes in his waistband. Norris was also charged with Possession of Heroin and
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

On Monday, May 5, Deputy Alday executed an arrest warrant on Dolphin Avenue by


arresting Derrell Anthony Jones (55). Jones was wanted for Burglary and Criminal
Mischief following an incident reported to the CGSO on April 16, 2020. As a result of a
civil dispute, Jones entered into a vehicle belonging to the victim and poured oil around
inside it.

On Tuesday, May 5, Deputy B. McCorvey arrested Gordon Franklin Hammond (44) during
a traffic stop after he witnessed Hammond (a passenger in the vehicle) throw a glass pipe
with methamphetamine in it out the window. Hammond was charged with Possession of
Methamphetamine, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Tampering with Evidence.

On Tuesday, May 5, Investigators C. Harvey and M. Manley stopped a vehicle for failing
to move over while other deputies were conducting another traffic stop on Doc Whitfield
Road. Investigators identified the driver as James Edward Waters (71) and revealed that
his driver’s license was suspended as a result of prior DUI sanctions. Waters was placed
under arrest and charged with DWLS/R.

On Tuesday, May 5, Deputy S. Alday arrested Steven E. Branson (56) on a warrant for
Theft of Utilities. The warrant stems from a report made in March of 2020 where Branson
was suspected of using a power cord to steal power from a neighbor.

On Tuesday, May 5, Deputy B. McCorvey executed an arrest warrant at a residence in


White City by arresting Allan Shepard Cooper (48). Cooper was wanted for Aggravated
Battery and Criminal Mischief as a result of an incident reported to the GCSO in April of
2020. Cooper was involved in an incident where he intentionally crashed into another
occupied vehicle.

On Tuesday, May 5, the GCSO transported Bradley Lamar Drinkard (30) from the Bay
County Jail to the Gulf County Detention Facility to be arrested on a Gulf County warrant
for Violation of Community Control probation. Drinkard was on probation for Possession
of Methamphetamine (PSJPD).

On Wednesday, May 6, Sgt. P. Williams and Deputy J. Page executed arrest warrants on
West Creekview Drive by arresting Bryan Lyne Loveless (43) and Elizabeth Ann Loveless
(40). Sgt. L. Dickey investigated allegations of child abuse against Bryan and Elizabeth
Loveless. As a result of his investigation he brought charges of Child Abuse without
Causing Great Bodily Harm against both subjects.

On Wednesday, May 6, Deputy V. Everett and Sgt. R. Burkett responded to a report of a


disturbance on Laurelwood which led to the arrest of Cathy Marie Long (56). Long was
charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and Breach of the Peace
following an altercation with neighbors.

On Wednesday, May 6, Erica Brianne Louks (27) turned herself in at the Gulf County
Detention Facility to be arrested on a warrant for failing to appear in court a criminal
charge for Disorderly Conduct.

On Thursday, May 7, Sgt. P. Williams executed an arrest warrant in the 300 block of N. CR
386 by arresting Tiffany Nicole Bronson (32). Bronson was wanted for Child Neglect and
Failing to Report Child Abuse.

On Thursday, May 7, Deputy J. Page was on a service call on W. Creekview when she
identified a subject on scene that had an active warrant for failing to appear in court.
Gencia Teresa Myers (57) failed to appear in court on charges of Possession of
Methamphetamine and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

On Thursday, May 7, Deputy V. Everett responded to a residence in Oak Grove in


reference to a suicidal person. Gulf EMS was already on scene and had initially responded
to the address to treat a person with a leg injury. That person refused treatment and was
threatening to kill their self as well as any EMS or law enforcement personnel who
approached. Other GCSO deputies arrived to assist, including Port St. Joe Police and FWC

officers. The suicidal person was subdued and taken into custody. The subject was
treated and transported to a mental health facility.

On Thursday, May 7, Deputy D. Goodman responded to Mockingbird Circle to investigate


a report of a domestic disturbance. Dewanna Dennis Pack (55) and Brandon Scott Felts
(41) were both arrested following the investigation that revealed both subjects had
allegedly pulled a gun on the other person. Stories conflicted as to who pulled a gun first
but Pack did fire a gun at Felts’ vehicle during the disturbance while he was trying to leave
in his vehicle. Both subjects were charged with Aggravated Assault. During the
altercation Felts struck Pack in the head with a flashlight so he was additionally charged
with Aggravated Battery. The guns used in the conflict were collected and taken as
evidence. The following day, Felts was arrested at the Gulf County Detention Facility on
a warrant for Violation of Probation as a result of his conflict with Pack. Felts was on
probation for Aggravated Battery (Domestic) and Aggravated Assault with a Firearm
(Domestic).

On Thursday, May 7, Deputy J. Page arrested James Audren Wagner (58) on a warrant for
Illegal Dumping over 500 lbs. The illegal dump site that Wagner contributed to was
located on N. Long Street in Overstreet. In lieu of a criminal investigation, Wagner was
given the opportunity to clean the debris he dumped on the site but he failed to do so.

On Thursday, May 7, Deputy P. Young executed an arrest warrant on Dead Lakes Drive by
arresting Michael Matthew Yarrell (38). Yarrell was wanted for violation of probation on
the original charges of Fleeing and Eluding Law Enforcement and two counts of DWLS/R.

On Friday, May 8, Deputy S. Alday stopped a vehicle for a traffic infraction on Hwy 71 near
the intersection of Pridgeon Lane. The driver of the vehicle, identified as David Mitchell
Rich Jr. (56), was arrested for driving with a suspended driver’s license. While taking Rich
into custody, a personal amount of methamphetamine was found in his wallet. Rich was
charged with Possession of Methamphetamine and DWLS/R.

On Friday, May 8, Deputy B. McCorvey executed an arrest warrant on Jones Homestead


Road by arresting Janet Nicole Barefoot (32). Barefoot was wanted for failing to appear
in court on a charge of Cruelty to Animals.

On Saturday, May 9, Deputy S. Alday executed an arrest warrant on Bonnet Street by


arresting Gene Allen Porter (45) on a warrant for Violation of Probation. Porter was on
probation for Arson.

On Saturday, May 9, Sgt. S. Ferrell and Deputy B. McCorvey responded to a report of a


domestic disturbance involving a firearm. The suspect with the firearm had stuck another
member of the household and attempted to shoot their self with a shotgun. The shotgun
did not discharge so the suspect got angry, went outside, and threw the shotgun through

a window of a vehicle. The suspect was taken into custody without incident and
transported to a mental health facility. Charges for Domestic Battery are pending.
