Yellow journalism is using shocking headlines, rumours or invented stories to
sell more newspapers. It was first used to « the circulation war » between Joseph
Pulizer ‘s New York World and William R. Hearst’s New York Journal in the 1890’s.

A popular expression
The term « Fake News » became popular in 2016 during the US presidential campaign. It was later
named World of the Year 2017 by Collins Dictionary.
