Reforestation Efforts in Spain

The town of Estepona in Spain has planted over 16,000 trees as part of its "Plan Arbol" green initiative over the past 7 years. This has increased the town's public green space from 498,000 square meters to almost 1 million square meters. In 2019 alone, the town council planted over 4,000 trees, mostly deciduous and shade trees. The plan has provided environmental benefits like increased oxygen, lower temperatures, pollution reduction, and protecting against soil erosion. It has also helped educate children about environmental protection.
