QUALITY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

DEPARTMENT : ROLLING MILL - II


SECTION : OPERATION (BSM)
WORK INSTRUCTION FOR ROLL ASSEMBLY

1 As per the size to be rolled, select the roll for assembly.


2 Clean both rolls necks to remove dirt/dust.
3 Identify bottom roll with line mark towards drive side collar also identify chocks for bottom roll.

4 Check roll diameter, mounted labyrinth rings and roll grooves.

5 Clean and check chocks bearing & seals.

3 Keep the roll in roll bascket.

4 Mount both side chocks on the robot operator side chock placed towards PPC yard and drive side chock placed towards ECR Building..

5 Set jack bolt of robot for alignment of non drive side chock.

6 Lock both side chocks with Chock clamping bracket and ensure robot is in fully open condition.

7 Put roll on robot by EOT crane and ensure the alignment of roll with respect to Chocks.

8 Mount both side chocks gently on roll necks.

9 Mount cross bars on the chock with apropriate shims.

10 Put the lock ring towards drive side chock and lock it with spacers & fastners.

11 Make 14 mm gap in thrust housing of operator side chock.

12 Lock operator side chock by flower bolt.

13 Tight operator sides thrust locking fastners at 435 N-M using torque wrench.

14 Mount End cover and tight it.

15 Take out assemble roll by EOT and put it on roll basket and assemble strippers.
