Palnt & Animal PPT-1

This document discusses the differences and similarities between plants and animals. It explains that both are living things that need air, food, water to survive and grow. It classifies organisms as producers, like plants, which make their own food through photosynthesis, or consumers, like animals, which depend on other organisms for food. Animals are further classified as herbivores, carnivores, or omnivores based on whether they eat plants, other animals, or both. The key process of photosynthesis is also summarized, in which plants use chlorophyll, water, carbon dioxide and sunlight to produce their own food in the form of starch, releasing oxygen.

ANIMALS ARE CLASSIFED BASED ON THE FEEDING HABITS AS:

HERBIVORES: Animals that eat plants are called herbivores.

CARNIVORES: Animals that eat the flesh of other animals are called

carnivores.

OMNIVORES: Animals that eat both plants and the flesh of other

animals are called omnivores.

PHOTOSYNTHESIS:
The process by which plants prepare their own food

with the help of chlorophyll, water, carbon dioxide and

sunlight is known as photosynthesis.

In this process -The food prepared is in the form of

starch.

In this process- the green plants give out oxygen.
