through saying certain phrases again and
again
Repetition in I’m Still Standing~
-The author uses repetition in the song

-Since this lyric is repeated so often
throughout the song your attention is
drawn to it, so it’s now built into the
reader's mind
-The use of repetition can also create a
sense of emotion and rymatic patterns
depending on the word choice

-Titanium focuses on proving to herself that she is strong, as
well as to those who criticize her by repeating “I am
titanium”
-Im Still Standing focuses more on him being able to prove
that he can keep up by himself/ and that the breakup only
made him stronger

withstand anything
Imagery in Titanium~
-Uses the phrase “ghost town” to
“But it's you who has further to express how lonely she feels deep

love”(Guetta,14-15).
-This also allows the listener to
visually paint a picture with their own
perception-thus drawing them into a
sensory experience
-Author wants to put out a somber
but brave tone
Imagery in I'm Still Standing~
“And there’s a cold lonely -Uses imagery to express how he
light that shines from feels like his ex is cold hearted and

you”(John,3).
the relationship
-Imagery also demonstrates what
struggles he seemed to have while in
that relationship
-Helps message get across how he’s
better off on his own/stronger
without her
Imagery-Comparison
-Titanium focuses more on imagining a picture of a “ghost town” to
represent her emotions on the way she feels
-I’m Still Standing focuses on putting an image of somebody else's
characteristics for evreybody else to see(his ex gf giving off a cold and
self absorbed vibe)
-By using these devices it helps spark the listener's attention by
making them focus more on connecting the image to the overall theme
of the song---so it makes them truly look at each individual lyric
-Adding imagery makes the lyric different from the others therefore
making it stand out, they both individually feel lonely
