Rollout of Windows updates for CH-Clients


Monthly Update-Schedule
 Test-Phase 1: 2nd Wednesday of the month
 Test-Phase 2: 3rd Wednesday of the month
 Rollout for all CH-Clients: 4th Wednesday of the month

How we inform you about Updates


 Actually we inform only the first test-group about the Windows-Updates.
 In the future, we consider the idea to inform you over Connect.

How the windows (WSUS) updates are delivered and handled at the moment
 Normally WSUS-updates are offered by Microsoft at the
2nd Tuesday of a month for us in Europe the patches are
available at the 2nd Wednesday of a month.

 At this 2nd Wednesday the patches are


installed to a small group of WSUS test
clients
(at the moment 21 clients) to recognize
any problems.

 At the 3rd Wednesday the testing group is extended to about 50 clients.


Provided there are no problems…

 … the patches will be delivered and notified for installation to all in the Active Directory
“ch.sika.com” managed clients at the 4th Wednesday of the month

 The updates are installed by clicking the “update-Icon “ at the taskbar and chose “update
now”; the finishing of the updates is offered after the installation or will be done by shutting
down the PC.

 Otherwise the installation starts by shutting down the PC.

How can I shut down my pc without


installing the patches?
There are two ways to stop the computer without installing the updates:

1. Hibernate the PC (Ruhezustand)

2. On the plain desktop select “Alt” + “F4” and


get a shutdown-menu with the additional
option “Shut Down” (Herunterfahren).
This option shuts the PC down without
installing the patches.
