1. Don’t linger.
Try not to let your eyes linger on the same position on the page
for too long. Once in a while, you will find yourself stuck on a
spot. Don’t be disheartened; move on. Advance! Shun
slipping back to read something unless utterly necessary.
Rereading disrupts your reading flow and slows you down.
You can always go back later to review the material.
5. Trace Back.
After a reading session, close your books, and pick a random
fact or concept. Relate that concept to another idea in your
subject. Keep doing this tracing pattern until you’ve
interconnected many ideas together. For instance,
international law reminds you of the UN charter which
reminds you of arbitration, treaties…
6. Go to sleep.
Sleep is a proven key in memorizing information. Your mind
is re-energized after each period of sleep, making it easier to
pull stored information to the front of your mind when you
need it. Depriving your mind and body of sleep only makes it
harder to focus. Thousands of college students will be happy
to know that staying up all night cramming is not beneficial
in obtaining an "A" and, in fact, it could be detrimental. Get a
good night's sleep.
