Advanced Network Automation (ANA)

▪ Partnership with HITACHI for a pilot project utilizing 2 MW
Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) installed on
MERALCO’s distribution system

▪ Simulation of various grid applications such as peak shaving


and voltage support

▪ Capability building on lithium-based grid-scale BESS based


on an actual system

▪ STATUS: Commissioned last February 2019. On-going study


for additional, larger grid-scale BESS installation in Meralco
